I'm not remotely a "bushcrafter" , but a friend handed me this B1 while on an elk hunt . After removing the sharp spine and sharpening , it worked very well for field dressing, butchering and general camp use . All the best in 2022 .

I recently purchased the Adventurer. It comes with a fero-rod stiker on the sheath loop. I was blown away by the quality of the sheath alone. With very little effort it took a wicked sharp edge....I do mean sharp. The fit and finish is certainly not on level with $300 knives but come on....this thing is a steal. If fit and finish is a big deal to you, it would be very easy to customize. I also like knowing I am supporting a Ukrainian business....these people are Spartans.
@RaindanceBushcraft Жыл бұрын
I wonder if I should have gotten that one, but I already have several ferro rods. I agree with your points across the board for sure. It's doing great in my toolkit.

I've very recently gotten hold of the Adventurer too .... outstanding value for money, it punches well above where it's price suggests it should. Fit and finish on mine is really nice, the scales fit the tang very well with smooth transitions from wood to metal all around. The sheath alone is easily worth the £37 I paid for the entire package. Utterly blown away by the quality for such a low price. I will 100% be buying more BPS knives.

I couldn't believe how sharp it was right out of the box. Budget knives have let me down so often that it seemed almost nuts when I did the paper test with it.
@ricardodafonseca90433 жыл бұрын
I have one of these. I like it a lot. I found that the steel rusted pretty easily when it was new. I took the scales off and there was rust under the scales too. So I cleaned it up and forced a patina . that sorted out that issue before putting the scales back. I like that it's not a skeletonised tang under there. . Also sanded the 'rough' edges where the scales meet the blade with my dremmel to even it all out and added lots of BLO to the wood. I also wet formed and waxed the sheath. The 1066 steel is actually pretty good. It holds up okay. No chips so far after a few months. It tends to roll before chipping and accepts stropping really well. So if you buy one and put a bit of work into it, it's really hard to beat. Even if you don't put a bit of work into it, it's good value.

I know nothing about this type of knives. I have folders. I did buy as my first and only expensive knives, an original Loveless drop point hunter. But I'm not going to use it. If I were to use a folder for camping/bushcraft, I would probably use my AD10 or other cold steel knife. I bought this knife with the HRC 59 to 60, to support this company that supplies knives to the Ukrainian soldiers. I'm homeless, so not much extra income. I thought I could at least support the company that supports the soldiers. Thanks for your review. So far you're the only reviewer that has reviewed the exact same knife I just bought from Amazon. Others reviews, were same knife but in stainless steel. I guess they changed the materials due to the war. Again thanks for putting up the specs. 1066 steel and HRC 59-60. You helped me feel good about my purchase. I didn't know if I should have bought the other knives with the lower HRC 57-58. I'm not a great sharpener and I will try not to use it on a brick like on some other great reviewers. 😂😂😂 When you pulled out that cement block, I thought you were going to hit the edge once to check for chipping. 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks again for a great review. Going to use it camping this fall in Julian mountain in California. ✌️🦁

The burrs on the spine are a good thing. It makes it a better scraper for fluff or ferro rod. LT Wright knives will run you over $200, and they all come with a burr along the spine. That comes from sharpening it on a belt sander. I know quite a few peop0le, including myself, that deliberately raise a burr along the spine if it doesn't have one to make it a better scraper. I do that to my Mora's.

For the price, I really couldn't complain, especially since I can fix up such slight issues in no time flat. Which is your favourite of your BPS knives?
@alainbelso3 жыл бұрын
Very honest review. I decided to use a fine file and some sandpaper to hone down that metal edge to get it closer to the wooden scales. Maybe they shrunk a little since the final finish of the knife. I used it all weekend to work and for fire prep and it felt great when working. I don't know anything about their heat process but it's still makes excellent feather sticks after weeks of using it and I only slightly passed it once on a ceramic stone and strop. It's one of my favorite knives and one of my cheapest. Sure, I have to make sure it doesn't stay wet. It rained a little Friday and I had to make sure it was put away dry. But it keeps impressing me with every use. Cheers!

Right up my alley price-wise. Being of Czech decent, I don't mind the import from that area of the world. One question, though, and please don't mind this if you've answered it a gazillion times before (I'm new to your channel)...why do you like a dangler sheath so much? I've used both, and for sheer comfort of knowing I won't lose another blade (lost my dad's once on a canoe trip near Nagagami), I like something that closes. I'd love to hear you ideas on it, and I'm very niave and easily swayed😁
@RaindanceBushcraft3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's legit. I just like the reach better. I find it more... natural, I guess. for sheath that sit higher up I'm always wondering if I'm going to cut myself while sheathing or unsheathing the knife. I'd lie to try a scout-carry sheath at some point, though. Have you tried one?
@svravenflintlock75263 жыл бұрын
@@RaindanceBushcraft no, have not tried one, but I like the concept. My current "everyday" carries all have snap covers that no matter how well worn in, they are buggers to snap/unsnap. I should say all but one, a faux kabar POS that I beat on. That closes well, bit again it is a piece of s#@+
@johnnymedina9463 жыл бұрын
Sadly, I got a big belly and sometimes it pushes/stretches leather a bit without a dangler. Also when I wear a longer shirt or coat it becomes easier to access with a danger.
@svravenflintlock75263 жыл бұрын
@@johnnymedina946 thanks for the input. I made a sheath for a blade I just made and it is a dangler. I do like it better.
@WayneTheSeine Жыл бұрын
Danglers are nice when sitting, in camp, in a blind, or in your vehicle. I think that is their big plus. Belt loop sheaths jam against the seat and you have to try and manipulate them out of the way, where the dangler just lays down.

The B-1 for Bushcraft duties, the Adventurer for light batoning and chopping and the Savage for food preparation at camp / home.

I've never seen anyone be able to use this knife to throw sparks. the edge is too blunt. so it seems it's a quality flaw on these. It's more of a fluke than a standard, that it should have that feature. It also cannot do battoning. The shaft loosen immediately. So you actually destroyed your brand new knife there. that's what you reviewed. congrats. =P
