Probably the first “big ride” my late Dad took me on in the late 60’s early 70’s I guess. Always brings back great memories seeing VLOGs such as this. Thanks for posting!

Amazing to think at one point log flumes were a staple of British theme parks and now they’re a dying breed.
@ukridesinfo4 жыл бұрын
I like a flume /rapids as much as any coaster. And yes, so think we lost this, Alton's flume, and Thorpe's Logger's Leap. :-(

That's right, places just weren't a theme park unless they had a log flume with the park name engraved on each log boat!
@SuperTed190212 жыл бұрын
At places like Alton Towers or BPB, you would *expect* there to be at least one! Thorpe Park however is another matter.

Great to watch ,I worked on the Logflume for a season in 1974, it was always one of the busiest rides on the Pleasure Beach... loved them days... got quite emotional watching this......thanks for uploading....

What i liked about this ride was that you were high up on concrete supports and the log flume track was actually over a pool of water the entire time, so when you looked over the edge there was a large drop into what looked like deep water. They should have refurbished this ride and kept it going. Blackpool had always had a tradition of having vintage rides but more recently they have been removing these older classic rides and IMO spoiling the heritage of the park. Grand Prix is the latest casualty. Its only a matter of time before they tear down one of the classic coasters, you watch. Alton did the same removing their log flume which i also used to enjoy. Not thrill rides like coasters but log flumes are nice to take a short break from all the noise and hustle and bustle and all of the family can enjoy them.
@ukridesinfo5 ай бұрын
Blackpool have always taken out thier classics! Reel, Mouse, Whip, Turtle Chase, Water Chute, Flume etc I enjoy a flume or rapids as much as a coaster, especially a scenic ride. I don't see why Infusion couldn;t have sat on higher footers, retaining the flume and Tom Sawyer ride underneath! lol

Some excellent rare footage of a classic ride. I miss this, simple but fun. Would love to see you do a remake of your Blackpool video that had all the lovers music. Perhaps use the big one or icon music.

When this log flume opened originally in 1967, it must have been *revolutionary!* Seemed to have suffered over the years through poor maintenance as showed here. Still sad that why log flumes cannot be more found in the UK, especially with the removal of Thorpe Park's "Logger's Leap". I get that people love coasters but log flumes are still generally the crowd-pleasers (appealing to all ages). See Orlando for details.

This was the worlds longest long flume when it opened, and in my opinion, 1000 times better than infusion is, if only it had vest restraints then it would be a great coaster!

My uncle only agreed to come on this with me when I was a boy on the condition I sat in front. As we came down the final drop he was laughing to my dad behind him that I was going to get drenched. He didn't consider that my dad and I had been on the ride many more times than him, so I knew just when the water would hit, and I was wee enough to duck down the front of the log boat. The splashing wave went over me, missing me, and he got it smack in the face!

Best flume the UK ever had
@ukridesinfo4 жыл бұрын
It was a much wilder and 'splashier' flume than Alton's, and I loved the old concrete supports, it had a sort of 'spaghetti junction' feel... but Alton's was just perfect, meandering through the woods on a fresh sunny day... a difficult decision! lol
