Thank you for teaching the various versions! Before, I only learned the version in C, but that was a bit low for my voice to sing nicely, so I resorted to using a capo, which didn't feel like the most comfortable playing experience. Now thanks to you, I don't have to use a capo next time. :)

A breakthrough moment for me was in an early guitar class the tutor after we'd learned Oh Carol in C played it in G and used the magic word transpose and handed out sheets with a Chord Clock on it which wonder of wonders allowed us to change songs into different keys(though I still sing in M Flat) Lol.👍

Thanks for this Rachael, like the chords in C but what about using a Capo to help changing the key to make it suit the voice better ? Any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi, yes if you are happy using a Capo, you canplay it in whichever key you like using the same chord shapes.

Hi Rachel, thanks for this. We play in C at my group, but I don't understand how you know the first note to sing is G? Is it always the 5th note of the key you start on please? I have been looking for the answer to this online but can't find it anywhere. I find your explanations very good. x

Hi Sue, yes, it's always the 5th note above the first chord - so C starts with a G, G would start with an D, F would start with a C and so on. Hope this helps.
