The crime of this video was that the sofa on the left was gorgeous

You guys nail it all the time. Thanks for doing these in higher resolution and with production quality instead of 2013 720p!

Not surprising, synthetic materials contain a lot of hydrocarbons, so your house is in a sense full of petrol.

wow... thanks for this, came here from reddit, had no idea this sort of thing even made a difference...

The intensity of raw primal fear that this video caused me to feel. I'm not being funny at all this is terrifying. I never knew a house / room could be overtaken by fire so quickly
@melaniebaynes2730 Жыл бұрын
I can't imagine the toxic fumes from the synthetics burning would do anyone any good either

This was very eye opening. Another wake up call money hungry everywhere. Please be safe.

Not only faster fire (apart from at the very beginning when the left room was marginally ahead) but also far more suffocating smoke.

So for all of our safety if synthetic materials fairs so poorly against natural materials? Then why do we have synthetic material in almost everything in our daily lives especially home furnishings? Where is our protection as consumers
@wyster143 жыл бұрын
Because protection went out the window as soon as companies saw profits from doing so. The flaw is that we reward companies for such terrible things
@jamesr26243 жыл бұрын
@@wyster14 Very true. Also most of these product safety testers and consumer protection groups are industry funded.

@@jamesr2624 yup, plus they will silence anyone that claims that their products aren't safe

You can still buy natural material furniture. It just costs a lot more. It's not just a "they make money" thing, it's a "we don't want to spend the extra money" thing.
@wyster143 жыл бұрын
@@andybrinson3406 it's also the fact that they can literally raise the prices on you without even putting better quality into their products

Yes but natural vs synthetic is very vague. I could assemble a natural room that would burn a lot quicker and a synthetic room that would burn a lot slower. Should give more details
@rageonyx Жыл бұрын
Not vague at all if you've ever been inside a home store. They aren't trying to trick you. They just filled the rooms with things a normal person can buy. Natural fibers are solid wood furniture, cotton and burlap fabrics, wool rugs, and ceramic or glass knick-knacks. Synthetics that have replaced those are composite fiberboard furniture with plenty of air pockets and petrochemical glue, fluffy polyester fabrics, and plastic knick-knacks.
@user-qd6jt9sd3h Жыл бұрын
Not really vague; cotton, wool, and solid wood are natural. Polyester, nylon, and particle board are synthetic
@livelovedaydream Жыл бұрын
Wood instead of MDF/particleboard. Wool instead of polyester comes to mind
