Intelligent, fact based discussion. People are dying, Muslims are dying and still some people are grumbling about not praying side by side in the mosque. The way I see it it is better to pray in the mosque 6 feet apart and wearing a mask rather than the mosque being shuttered completely..

When the plague spread in the lands of the Muslims during 764 AH, what did the Muslims do? Al-Qadi al-Imam Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Qurashi al-Dimashqi (d. after 780 AH) writes in his book *Shifa’ al-Qalb al-Mahzun fi Bayan ma Yata’allaqu bi ‘l-Ta’un* (still in manuscript form): […] and because of the plague, people were upon a great goodness, in that they were reviving the nights [by remaining awake in acts of worship], and fasting during the day, and sadaqah (charity) and tawbah (repentance) […]. We abandoned our homes and remained in the masjids - our men, children and women. Thus, people were upon a great goodness because of the plague.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan. Very informative. Brilliant! Sound authentic knowledge is key to important decision-making. Alhamdulillah, Islam is based on knowledge, not on ignorance, emotions or fanaticism. But the question still remains: How can sane human beings, particularly our ulama, purposely choose to endanger themselves and others knowingly and still think that they are right? Allah swt says: "Fas alu ahle zikhri, inkuntum la ta'lamun." (Ask the experts/ people of knowledge, if you do not know.) (An Nahl, 16:43; Al Anbiya, 21:7). Also: "Kuntum khaira ummatin uqrijat lin nas, ta'muruna bill ma'ruf wa tanhauna anil munker..." (You are the best nation for the good of mankind, you enjoin good and forbid evil...) (Al 'Imran, 3:110). And: "...wa la tulqu bi aidikum ila tahluka..." (...and cast not yourselves into ruin with your own hands...) (Al Baqarah, 2:195). Finally: "Innallaha ya'murukum antuwadul amanati ila ahluha..." (Verily, Allah commands you to hand over the trusts to those qualified...) (An Nisa',4:58). Alhamdulillah Nymat Al Islam.

As a society there are many of us who need to be taught the difference between the two and to recognise this in a healthy manner.

It looks like the Hanafi jurists were more versed in worldly affairs than some of the jurists of other schools. Even ibn Khaldun said something of this nature in his "Al- muqaddima"

As Salam o Alaikum to you Shaykh Yasir, the people on the EPIC Masjid team and to all the ummah. May Allah (SWT) bless shaykh and all the amazing people who for the sake of Allah are involved in the raising the hope of the ummah in this dire hour. I am from East London, living with my mom. I have been dealing with chronic health condition for the past 3+ years. The illness i suffer which alhumdulillah has subsided greatly due to the help of Allah and my precaution and strict regime was (believe it or not) due to 2 viruses which are from the herpes class. I had suffered greatly in many ways and i thank Allah that i have made it so far that i am in the position to help my mother and fight this calamity which is almost at the gates of Humanity's very abode. The information through which i found how to get rid of the virus and what are viruses is all there and free for anyone to benefit from. what are viruses, how do they reside in us without getting detected by the immune system and the information also specifies a great number of viruses having around 50+ strains causing mysterious symptoms which the doctors don't understand and they give labels of hundred names as incurable diseases such as diabetes, hashimotos thyroiditis, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis and many many more. THE INFORMATION MENTIONS THAT MEDICAL SCIENCE AND RESEARCH DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TECHNOLOGY AND MEANS TO DETECT AND KNOW THAT THESE 50+ VARIOUS VARIETIES OF VIRUSES EXIST. If they did, such big calamity would not have occurred. IM NOT SHARING THIS because i want to sell anything or im an attention seeker or something, I am sharing this with you all because i want the ummah and humanity in general not to stay in the dark and rely on foods that Allah (SWT) has created, which are ANTI-VIRAL, ANTI-BACTERIAL, ANTI-FUNGAL, ANTI-MICROBIAL, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY and much much more.... 50% of healing is to have the correct information about what went wrong or what's the causing the problem. MEDICAL SCIENCE and RESEARCH has always come up with better technology and ways to conduct surgeries and ADMINISTER DRUGS which at the end of the day only benefits them, not the general public. THEY ARE BASED ON CHEMICALS, NOT NATURAL. there is NO MONEY in natural for them. Hope this helps, all do dualities for the ummah, May Allah keep us safe and give us the understanding and the knowledge to fight this, AAMEEN

I genuinely thought this was going to be a lesson in Islamic history on the history of plagues. I’m sorry that yasir qadhi is having to use this video as a form of “propaganda” in order to convince people that science states diseases are contagious. This is why we can’t have nice things. We shouldn’t have to refer to fatwas written back in the 1880s to “prove” what science tells us. If you disagree, become a scientist AND religious scholar in order to prove your stance, as well as prove that modern science is incorrect. Until then, please defer to those that have more knowledge.

I quite like the academic methodology of these lectures. I can almost see the reference/ bibliography as it is drummed into students. 🙂 It is afterall an Islamic tradition to trace back the ancestry and manufacture of knowledge. I would imagine that no disrespect about the value of knowledge of previous students is intended. In fact rather the opposite. I myself find it quite helpful and fascinating because it has come to my attention that jinn possibly also have the ability to spread contagion.
