I don't personally understand why Ulanzi didnt simply put their U-190 mini fluid head on this tripod since it can hold 22lbs on the head. Maybe that would have added a little to the cost, but overall i think it would be better. Thats why im skipping this tripod and instead simply bought the U-190 head for $50 and plan to put a quick release plate on the bottom for attaching to my ballhead tripods when i need some video clips. Edit: I just finished the whole review. It would have been nice to see more panning and tilting shots in the review since thats the main reason people would be buying this tripod. There were barely any shots like that in this video, and the ones that were had such little movement in them it was impossible to see how well this head actually works.

Wow great comment. Definitely gonna pin this. Didn't even think about the fact that Ulanzi had other fluid heads with better specs but you are totally right - a little weird they didn't opt for the upgraded one. Only reasoning could be price or trying to keep the overall weight down cause I think the U-190 might be a little heavier and bigger. Also, appreciate the feedback on the video. Was thinking of maybe making a separate video of just panning/tilting shots if there were enough people wanting that.

@Digital Tech Reviews & Tips there do appear to be some advantages to the head that comes with the tripod, but since specific specs for the head aren't listed on Ulanzi's site it's hard to tell exactly what. I doubt the head is shorter than the U-190. It looks quite tall and the U-190 is only 3.1 inches tall. But it does appear that the release is quicker on the new tripod head. The U-190 has the old style arca screw knob and the new one looks like you can just slide the plate right on and it stays. Also the U-190 is missing the ballhead feature built in, but does have a better tilt angle. I also just noticed the U-190 also has the "magical" hidden hex key in the head as well. Maybe you should do a comparison of the two heads lol.

Friend, to be able to shoot vertically on your smartphone, just turn the pad 90 degrees across the tripod and turn the head down.))

Great Review, So How its holding up with you today? Especially the locking mechanism (the Legs) ?

Thanks! I was actually thinking of making a follow-up video cause it's holding up surprisingly well and has quickly become my go-to tripod for travel. No issues with the legs or anything.

Would you recommend this over the manfrotto befree?

Not sure on that. Never owned a BeFree myself, but my Singaporean friend I talked to in the video (who owned a BeFree) said he thought this one felt lighter and stronger than the BeFree.

Haha yes I did eventually figure this out - it works alright. But still would be nice to have a better solution which allowed for vertical shooting and full use of the video head for pans/tilts.

Let me know how it’s doing. Mines going on 3 months now and no issues so that’s good I guess.
