Thanks Roma, a very thorough review, I love Ulanzi gear as they think outside the box and bring awesome products.. Having said that, what's your opinion in regards GoPro media mod and Ulanzi G9-14? Keeping in mind you can use any mic in media mod...

I think that the media mod is a better package overall because it's much more compact and convenient. But the G9-14 definitely offers much more versatility when it comes to mounting accessories, and it also offers better protection for the GoPro because it's completely built out of metal.

@@Romafedorov agreed, I have Ulanzi G9-2 side door already, and will be getting a media mod, however I can see using G9-14 in different situations ... Con for both is neither are waterproof, G9-14 less weather-resistant than the media mod, in my opinion..

wait does your mic connect directly to go pro's usbc? Go pros usbc cant take mics thats why you either need an adapter or mod kit?

I am now touring Borneo Sabah on motorcycle, the road is so bad.. my gopro plastics link broke, the camera drop on the road while I am riding… luckily I am using the G9-14 and screen protector. The camera survive, just some scratch on the edge of the removable lens. The screen protector was smashed but the the removable lens was saved with only minor scratch on the edge, no problem with image. The G9-14 saved me from having to buy another gopro. Only wish there are a lanyard attachment to it.

Question: Your video thumbnail show a dead cat mic on top of the Ulanzi G9-14. Does it sit high enough to be out of the frame like the older Ulazni cages?

What is best? There are so many different types of ND filters that fit the GoPro Hero 10. My question is which one is the best, it's not a question of the price but from which company is the best. There are from Sandmarc, variable ND filters. Tiffen has 3 ND filters plus 1 Polarid filter. Polar pro Shutter Collection, Neewer 4 pack filter ND and Telesin has Circular Polarizer Filter. Maybe there are some other filters that are better? Grateful for answers.

This was the best comparison of the 14 vs the 5 Ive seen and really helped me decide which one to go with. One thing Ive read elsewhere that would have been helpful to show is that on the G9-5 Ive been told that you have to push the mic adapter over a bit to remove the battery door - which could then be very problematic if youve used the allen key to tension it down. Have you observed this conflict with the G9-5 as well?

Hi Roma. Thanks for this comparison video. Given the disadvantages of the G9-5 but that your aiming to use its filter slot with a diffuser, should I just forget about the G9-14? How hard is it to change the front lens to another one with the G9-5 on? Will it incur damages to the edge coverings of the lens protector themselves? Thank you Roma.

Ulanzi emailed me the other day that they discontinued the product. I don't why cause it's such good quality cage for the Gopro9 out there in my opinion. But I was able to get a used one from Amazon just the other day. Keep checking you might get lucky too.

I have the two older versions of the Ulanzi and the smallrig, the plastic one when i use it on the Crane M2 being the lightest. I find them all pretty useful, but i wish they would make a cage that would take the Media Mod, I have the 3.5 dongle from my Hero 5, but i mostly use the Media Mod on the Hero 10, and would like a cage ... Anyone seen one?

Great video Roma. I am new to GoPro. Bought Hero 9 to use with chest harness. Would the mic adapter attached to G9-14 get in the way when manually operating camera? Thanks for your very well explained videos.

Thanks. I don't think that the mic adapter would interfere with operating the camera when it's attached. it's fairly on the side, so you shouldn't have any issues. but it does make the whole setup a bit bulkier, so keep that in mind.

Hi Roma Again. On going problems with the mic adapter for gopro 9. I have bought the G9-14 case which is great. I have been sent a second mic adapter which still does not work though my external mic is working on another camera. My question is probably rather obvious but I am not a tech head. Would the media mod for gopro 9 work with the G9-14 Ulanzi cage? Your videos are super insightful and useful thankyou!!!!!!

@@blazewarrender you might have the same issue that I had with my GoPro 9. I had to send it to GoPro for a replacement. The issue was that my GoPro wasn't recognizing the mic adapter or the media mod. I would suggest to test the media mod in store if possible before buying it.. @@Romafedorov Hi and thanks for quick reply. Checked out your video. My Hero 9 is recognizing the standard mic in Mod preferences. I am using a replacement mic adapter with Lavalier go which is listed for GoPro Hero 9 and works with other cameras.There is no GoPro store here so it all goes through SIngapore. Only online service. They told me to install new update which I already had. Now have to wait yet more days for them to get back to me with another suggestion. Will let you know the outcome. Thanks again Roma.

Thank you for the review! G9-14 is the best cage ever! Just one question, does it interfere with the glass screen protector? Because on media mod it’s impossible to install with the screen protector. And does G9-14 have rubber cushion inside for protecting the GoPro from scratching?

It’s possible to charge the camera when the Mic adapter is connected. The mic adapter has an additional USB-C port, specifically for this reason.

2000 ISO is pretty high, lower it down to 400 maximum to get the best image quality from your GoPro.

Was considering about Gopro Media mode case for Hero 9 Black, but after i saw this case, i have a question - what about external microphone? Does Hero 9 Black support it? And do you have any recommendations? Also, is there any way for extra battery ?

The HERO9 does support the 3.5mm pro mic adapter. Rode has great microphones for the GoPro, like the Video Micro or Wireless GO. You can also take a look at the EDUTIGE ETM-001 mini microphone, it's a bit sensitive but overall its great. for extra battery you can plug in a mini power bank to your GoPro..
