How do we even attach the strap from 1:40? The loop is closed and there is no unlocking mechanism for it. There are also 2 holes in the phone's cover (to the right from the speaker in 4:45) looking like they are made especially for that strap but they are also impossible to connect with a closed loop on the strap

Insert the closed loop into one of holes in the lower right corner. The tip of the loop should come out the other hole. Take the strap and pull it through the loop.

Yes, it was also a little illogical to me at first, however, as the 3.5mm headphone jack is hidden under the rubber cover, deep in the case and the gap is narrow, some headphones would not be able to fit it inside, so they put an adapter in there, just in case .
