I can't help but see Giannis in this kid. The defensive stance, long arms, the way he runs, the athleticism, even the hair and skin complexion. He already has a bigger body than rookie Giannis. Being a farmer and playing soccer growing up has clearly benefited him in terms of strength and foot speed/coordination.

Great but does he have the Giannis work ethic?

@@016wqx08 dude's a legit farmer in a small village in Cameroon. Can't say if his work ethic will be Giannis levels but being a farmer obviously takes a lot of work so I assume he'll have a strong work ethic. Also, there's a really good interview by pensare basketball with Ulrich's trainer on youtube (same trainer who discovered Embiid titled "The Toronto Raptors bought a lottery pick"), I highly recommend you check it out if you want a better perspective of the type of person Ulrich is and his story prior to being drafted to the NBA.

there's no way this guy is a 57th pick in a weak draft. This guy should've at least went late first round or early second round. There were definitely some behind the scenes talks between Masai and his agent with Masai's Africa connections.

it was because there was so little video on him, and at the nike hoops invite, they saw how raw he was. he is new to basketball and is just playing on instinct and using his speed and athleticism to play. chomche might have the highest ceiling in this draft and may end up being the best player coming out of this draft. but he is a 3 year project at least. his fall almost out of the draft was because he was so raw and didnt show well at nike hoops invite. he almost fell out of the draft but the raptors decided to go back into the 2nd round and buy the 57th pick from the timberwolves for a million dollars. i believe part of it was because masai ujiri is part of giants of africa program in basketball and wanted to draft a the first player out of the africa nba academy. end of the day not many teams willing to spend the time and resources to develop potentially a 3-4 year project. he is the youngest player in the draft and if he was born 2 days later, he wouldnt have qualified for this draft so he is in a way like a 17 year old being drafted.

@@giovanni-ed7zq The Raptors and Rich Paul purposely hid him to get him to the Raptors which is best for everyone, both the pocketbook of Rich Paul and the Raptors who have one of the best development programs in the league. This was part of Rich Paul paying back the Raptors for earlier favours. Very likely getting Fred Vanvleet that comical contract by tanking their season for his stats to get Houston to bite and 'losing him for nothing' instead of trading him to a team that wouldn't let him keep his stats so absurdly skewed.

@@niknba celtics with their cap situation was looking for an older player to possibly able to come in and help right away in his first year. there was no way the celtics were gonna draft such a young raw prospect. celtics win window is win now, not in s 2-4 years. for chomche to work out, in reality he needed to go to a team in rebuild with a good developmental program that would get him his reps to develop. chomche probably went to the best place for him to develop with raptors in rebuild.
