Hello! Lifelong Alaskan here, and hubby and I enjoy exploring our state in the RV with the dogs. Just to update, Centennial Campground isn't one you should recommend. I'm glad you haven't had any negative encounters there, but their reputation has been sketchy and currently it's closed to the public because Anchorage's homeless population is being housed there until a better solution can be found. There have been numerous issues with black bear getting into food, and many have had to be killed for the safety of the homeless staying there. Anyway, avoid recommending it in the future, and definitely find another camping spot when traveling through Anchorage! I enjoy your videos. It's fun to see Alaska through the eyes of tourists. We love our state!

Kerry, we love hearing this so much and we're excited for your trip this summer to Alaska, too! We should be releasing our Alaska planning/travel guide in a few days that could certainly helping in your decisions (even though it is geared towards RVing, the recommendations of destinations, dining, etc would definitely apply to any driving trip around Alaska). Save this link for when the guide is live: www.newstatenomads.com/product/rving-in-alaska-planning-guide/

The beginning reminded me of going to the eye doctor - 1 or 2? Which one looks better - 1 or 2? Which path do we choose? 🤣 Hard not to try to do it all when you've come so far. Thanks for taking us along and for all of the excellent information. Looking forward to the guide. 💞 -Aimee

Hahahaha, well the great news is you CAN still do it all regardless of direction, Aimee! Some events (like the Valdez Follies show) only run certain times of the year, which could impact the direction you may want to take first. We will be sure to cover that in our planning guide. 👍 -Howard

Planning a trip this July/August. Two questions. 1) How are the mosquitos? And 2) We will likely be bringing our two small dogs. Did you leave your dogs in the RV when you went on pet restricted tours/spas or was there another option? Thanks so much. Heading to your website now.
@NewstateNomads2 жыл бұрын
So excited for you to experience Alaska! The two summers we have made the trip, we didn't find the mosquitoes to be terrible. However 2019 was unseasonably hot & dry and 2021 was unseasonably cold. So that definitely could have played a factor in keeping them down. As far as the pups, we always leave them in the RV when we can't bring them. They're safe and comfortable here. We have an automatic fan that turns on in case it gets too warm in the RV, although in AK it should be mild most of the time. And I will also use a webcam when we have internet service to keep an eye on them too. Hope that helps! -Katelyn
