You’re quickly becoming one of my favorite gadget/tech enthusiasts on youtube. The editing and video quality is unbelievable. Your passion for modding totally comes through, because 90% of your mods aren’t something I’d do but I pay attention to every moment anyway. Plus 90% of my mods/gadgets aren’t really others’ interests either, so all makes sense.

Totally agree, would have been so cool to put an IPS in there! This was an older Boxy Pixel shell and it could only fit the AGS101 lcd. However, all the newer shells can fit both the IPS and the 101. Cheers!

@iVirtualPlays Based on this side by side (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIKYapaPf6l6p8k), the colors look about the same, and the IPS screen is so much easier on the eyes and just all around better looking by not having the lines between each individual pixel. There's always rechargable AA for batteries.

I ordered the USB C version and the diode just now from their site Im excited! Do you think I will have some issues with the port if I try this with a plastic shell? Im getting the 3D bracket printed soon so Im not able to really check for myself right now. Im thinking its just gonna be a little bit of positioning and precision cutting in the battery door but would like to hear your advice!
@MachoNachoProductions
@MachoNachoProductions 4 жыл бұрын
Great question @easybake_evan! Unfortunately I am uncertain if installing the usb c charging board, the 3D printed bracket and a lithium ion battery will fit in a stock shell. The boxy pixel shell is specially designed to fit this parts and is a little thicker in the back to accommodate those parts. There’s a chance it could work but I am a little doubtful. I’d be interested in hearing your findings. I hope this helps and best of luck! Cheers!

The Funnyplay IPS V2 LCD really doesn't function well in the aluminum casing, (Unless you don't mind the picture in some GBA games being cut off on the right front side and bottom front side of the console.) 1. because the screen ratio is much larger and portions of the screen will be cut off. 2. a custom ratio glass or plastic lens cover would be needed from funny play. 3. You'd need to dremel the right front side of aluminum shell the average person is not well equipped for that. Final thoughts: The best method in having an aluminum shell is going the AGS-101 screen.

To your point on the screens, don’t forget, games weren’t just made with the AGS and Micro in mind, but the AGB as well. That’s no reason to stick with an AGB screen. Upgrading makes total sense if the upgrade is developed properly. Keep it up brother!!!

In theory, could you just get the screen and adapter and keep the original shell? I love the semi-clear blue shell that came with my GBA but a front lit screen would be amazing!

12:15 "These games were designed with this specific LCD panel in mind." I get what you're saying, that the 101 screen is an OEM part... But NO. GBA games were NOT designed with it in mind at all. Many GBA games look washed out when played on an SP (whether front or back lit) because they were intentionally designed using bright colors to be more visible on the non-backlit GBA. Awesome build though!

Nice, that’s a really cool shell! What I would do first is double check your solder joints on the power board. Since it seems to be an issues involving power. It could be that one of your connection came off. Also, try to see if there is any shorting occurring, where wires may be contacting the shell or other metallic surfaces. That would be my first step. Let me know what you find and we can go from there.

Macho Nacho Productions Would you happen to have knowledge on how to replace a power switch for the Nintendo ds lite? I think I took off the pads from the motherboard because I see brown not green lol. Help if you can please?
@MachoNachoProductions
@MachoNachoProductions 4 жыл бұрын
Hey there! If that pads have indeed been taken off it will be hard to replace. I haven’t replaced a power switch before on a DS lite. It’s hard to diagnose without seeing it. A possible solution if the pads have been taken off is to glue the switch in the correct location at solder the switch leads directly to the traces. This will require you to follow the pad traces and etch away the solder mask and solder to the trace directly. This is a bit hard to explain but you are essentially bypassing the solder pad. Please take all the proper precautions and do not attempt to repair if you feel uncomfortable. You can also buy a replacement lower board from eBay too. I hope that helps and best of luck!
