Good video! Looks solid! Maybe some anti-slip strips on the stairs?

It’s an old video... but I suggest you update to an office chair. And if you haven’t carpeted yet, indoor/outdoor turf might be best considering the dirt/mud getting tracked it. Have you tried the spray in insulation like you said in other comment? Looks good, love the stairs!

I have them on our farm... even little buddy heater... we insulate ours and cover that with carpet...its like a sound booth... lol Nice to hunt out of

I will for sure carpet the floor for sound. Not sure about insulation. That deep in the woods, I feel like insulation will just be a home for mice and squirrels and in a couple years it would have a strong smell of pee in it. How do you keep the mice and bugs out of the walls?

sheet insulation not the fuzzy stuff

good point, didn't think of that

I am planning on building something similar. I like your window design.... So I have one tip, insulate the structure, even if you don't need it for heat, it will make it so much more silent when you are in there. Also, before putting the carpet down, put down a thin layer of xps or foam. It will really deaden the sound a lot. You did an awesome job with the build! You'll be able to hunt with your kid when they get a bit bigger as well!

+Northwoods Acres exactly - goal was to build something our kids kids kids can use. I think I may look at spray foam next year to try it out for the first time. Never did it before but could be a fun project - thanks for watching

I built one similar with a ladder 12' high but only 4'X4' and used rubber on the roof. Built it in 6 sections in the garage with my 4 yr old son and daughter. Then assembled it at the land i had. Same heater. Used to cook hot food Iin it while hunting. Still standing after 16 years.

any tips to make it last 16 years?

Why didn’t you build it right at the tree line? Why have those trees between you and the field?

Nice build, Will. Did I miss the "ice box" for the ice cream? Just one question... where do the "men" hunt? LOL

+lastniceguy1 that’s is what the Porch is for - perfect spot for the cooler - I did the sit in a tree stand for years, cold and frozen. Just got old fast. I have logged a number of winters in WI in the woods over the years

Should have used sliding windows. Yours sounded too noisy opening. Overall a nice stand 👍

The shoot house I got my last deer out of, those windows were noisy too... if you open all windows when you get there and sit down to wait, it doesn’t matter how noisy the windows are...

was the shack built on the ground?
@theweekendhomestead7 жыл бұрын
First i built the platform, got all the bracing done, and built the floor. Next we built the stairs. On a rainy day, The 4 walls were built in the barn including sheeting them on the ground, then we carried each up and installed them together. Lastly we built a simple 2x4 frame roof, put it up. Once the frame of the roof was up, we cut the corner molding, installed soffit and fascia and sheeted/shingled the roof. All the rest of it was carried one part at a time up to the platform. One nice item was i had the scaffolding that can get us up 20+ feet up. So we would setup on a side of it, and do all the work, then move it to the next side, and so on till we worked completely around it. Table, windows, door, etc were built in the barn and taken out one at a time. I actually did a write up for it with photos I plan to post at some point including the plans. All and all it was a simple plan, that we just start doing and made it up as went along

If it has music blaring out of it all year long, the deer will be used to the sound and not care come hunting season.... and the music will cover up the sounds of you chewing on Funyuns and taking off the safety after you pull the trigger and nothing happens....
