Superb and very helpful videos. I'm looking the camera bag myself at the moment. Might try to go to Tenba Axis V2 32L for my Canon C70. Thanks! Really helpful. My preference is the following: 1. Gura Gear 22L+. It’s on order and I am anxiously awaiting it. I am looking to house a Sony mirrorless with a 200-600 on one side and another body with 24-70 or 70-200 on the other, plus other lenses. This can handle it comfortably while having it impeccably organized. It’s also carry on compliant. The 16L+ can also accommodate a Sony A7R body with an attached 200-600 on one side, leaving the other side for other bodies/lenses. The 16L+ can fit underneath an airline seat. Great to relieve overhead compartment anxieties. 2. Mindshift Backlight 26L: probably the best moderate to difficult day hiking camera backpack. The genius of this one is you have a camera section and a 7L front section. The front section is used for food, protein bars, first aid kit, flash light, water bladder, etc. The 2 water bottle holders are also necessary for longer hikes. There’s also straps for both hiking poles, as well as a tripod. The camera section can comfortably handle a camera with attached 200-600 lens, plus another mirrorless bodies and lenses. So it’s 2 backpacks in one. Most camera backpacks are just that - camera backpacks. Leaving you without much space for hiking related stuff. This backpack is also very comfortable. The Backlight 26L is one of the most popular camera hiking backpacks as a result.

The Mindshift BacklLight bags are great for adventure stuff. I got the 18L not expecting to use it for anything but short outings but it's become my main bag for 3 years now. Having a side pocket on each side is great. They both hold plenty of stuff. I've dragged that bag over numerous sharp lava floors in lava tube exploring and it held up great. Comfortable mountain biking too.

Great video! Like you I have a bit of an addition when it comes to buying and trying the ultimate bag/back pack combo. - One bag you didn't have in your review (perhaps it wasn't out yet when you did this) is the PGYTECH OneMo 2 35L-45L - This is similar in size to the Peak Design or the Peter McKenna bag but without the expensive price tag. Good video. The thing about camera bags is that if you're doing photography professionally, for weddings or sports events, then you won't be able to have that bag with you. Unless you want to hump a backpack while doing a wedding. I mean, you don't just want to set it anywhere, it won't be safe. I have a tendra roller camera bag and when I use to do weddings I left it in the car. I transferred the lenses to my lens bag (the shoot sack). I was able to carry my lenses and a flash and other accessories in a basically ergonomic bag that has the messenger compact bag look and it's stylish.

Your only issue with the Shimoda was the core unit cube. Maybe you've already sold it but have you tried putting different cubes in or using different 3rd party dividers? Wonder if the PD cubes can be wedge inside instead. I've been using the PD everyday + travel backpacks for several years. Great for urban commute but uncomfortable for heavy loads or prolong travel. Instead use hiking specific backpack like Osprey for traveling. Biggest draw about the Shimado is hiking oriented design with adjustable straps/torso. Think it is the only camera bag that does this.

So I have all the Molle added pouches etc. I need for the 24l v2. It’s the side access (on the correct side!) that I’ve been missing. I did have the PGYTech (camo) but the side access was too small and on the wrong side for me personally. Snagged the Tenba on eBay for $129 having only been used a couple times. Well, I think *The best Backpack" only exists for the person that is making this video! 😇(What you like an other person might dislike and vice versa!) No F-stop? Tells a lot about your use of backpacks! 😉I cannot even compare other brands because I almost exclusively use Lowepro backpacks (and love them)! 😍 In future I might try an F-stop backpack (though they are really expensive). I'd like to know if F-stop is really as comfortable as many reviewers tell you. 🤔 ATM I don't have a ton of gear I'd like to take with me. Therefore I probably have other requirements for a photo backpack! Yes, I'd love one for dayly use - however until now I haven't found it. It must be one with removable camera department and I'd like rear access for the camera. 🤔

So interesting to see how tastes vary. I do like the look of the Wandrd although I find the roll up top a little goofy. I really don't like look of the Globetrotter, at least if you're in casual clothes. And obviously the tactical one is ugly as hell. At least seeing it through the screen I'd prefer to be seen in the Urban Access (although I reckon the 13 looks better than the 15, as large backpacks just look kinda goofy in general).

I've never understood the hype with Peak Design. Their dual side access concept seems like it would be aggravating as heck to organize/access equipment. The Wandrd Prvke 2.0 always catches my eye from an aesthetic/functionality standpoint, but I think the Nomatic/McKinnon 25L pack performs the same functions more efficiently and with a sturdier structure (got it from the Kickstarter about a year ago and love it).

Is the 30L version of the Prvke deeper/better? I’m currently using an eos r, with 24-70, 100mm and 16-35… and looking for backpack replacement that would comfortable, could also fit a 16” and accessories for day usage, like photo walks and trips. A tripod, a water bottle, maybe jacket, snacks… you know the deal… hard to find something that would mix style x versatility x comfort, right? Some bags looks like you’re carrying a coffin, so deep and rigid they are all the way through, from the upper part of the bag to the bottom… still in the search…

The wandrd is a bulky bag just like the tenbas I use the LowePro protactic 350aw II. Looks great steardy not that bulky. I find it odd you talk about sony but put in Canon camera and rf lenses.

hi @DesmondCheng im looking to get a backpack for my travel soon. I currently have a sony a7ii with the sigma 35mm and 24-70. I'm kind of overwhelmed by the infinite options of backpacks. do you have a specific one you would recommend? Went through this video and cant solidify on one, im more on the smaller/medium sized bag nothing too large. if you could help me out with getting the right one that would be great. thank you.

It's a great question because I also find myself constantly switching between bags.... But for the small-medium range, I've been using the Think Tank Urban Access 13 and the Think Tank backstory 15. The Wandrd prvke is also another good option. OR just get a camera insert like the Tenba BYOB and put it into a regular backpack. I've been loving my Osprey Parsec bag lately.

I want to like the Tenba Axis backpack, but the hardest part for me to accept on so many backpacks including this one, is the laptop in the lid. I produce a travel show and will be traveling for six months out of the year through Asia and Africa. Why would I want to throw my laptop on the ground whenever I open the lid. Am I the only one who is so bugged about this design that many companies choose to stay with? It's like the designers never used it in a real-world scenario. Am I overly worried about tossing my laptop around every time I need to access the main compartment? I am curious to hear other people's thoughts.

@DesmondCheng 9 ай бұрын
for the tenba axis the laptop is in the 'middle' section. The front part has space for accessories and thinner items like a jacket. Then there is a separate compartment for the laptop. And then at teh back is where all the camera gear goes!

@@DesmondCheng Thanks for the comment. I’ll take a closer look at the Tenba Axis. I obviously missed that detail. 😋 Other than the laptop concern, I love the look and functionality of the bag.

I have no idea why anyone would want nineteen bags but ok, I like the Mindshift Backlight the best i'm getting a 36l later this month. I was going to get the Tenba Axis 32l but they're extremely expensive for what they are and in my opinion overpriced. Plus also i've talked to people who have had them and they say they're great rucksacks but the velcro straps are a design flaw because when loaded with quite a bit of gear they have a tendancy to let loose and the straps suddenly fall loose. That is not good at all. I mean what is the point making rucksack that can handle so much equipment then put velcro straps that when under a lot of strain from the weight of the equipment suddenly give way, it's dumb. To be honest I think the best cheap camera rucksacks are the Lowepro Tahoe 150 and Lowepro Photo Classic BP300AW both of which I have. I tired a few bags out and went for those. I upgraded from the Tahoe 150 to the Photo Classic as I got more gear and now my Photo Classic is nearly bursting from all my gear which is why i'm getting a Mindshift Backlight 36l later this month.

Did my eyes deceive me or did the Brevite bag fit an R5 with 15-35, 50mm 1.2, and the 70-200 in it? That's my exact kit and I'm looking for a lightweight bag lol

Peak Design Backpacks are the biggest trash out there. I still remember putting 6kg of stuff into it and then testing it for 10 minutes and it was so uncomfortable, that it hurt my shoulders and upper back for 3 days straight. What is the point of a camera backpack when it debilitates you. To anyone reading and considering this backpack, dont bother unless you only carry like 2kg or something.

I will never buy a #TENBA bag ever again. I spent $300+ on a bag that the casing fell apart within 2 years and TENBA refused to honor it's 5 year warranty. Their reasoning was because the bag was discontinued therefore the warranty was discontinued. Never will buy anything #TENBA again.
