Dunno if it's just me but I seem to do better with the rolling block. It's a mental thing, I take more care with each shot and usually hit. With the Carcano it's like "ah fck it.. if I miss I have another 5 quick chances anyway" basically just very blasé.

Just my opinion, but sniper rifles as a class of weapon feel displaced in a game about the Wild West, I just can’t feel immersed when I get into a tense gunfight and I see someone diving around and quickscoping like it’s COD.

This whole game doesn't take place in the wild west tho it takes place at the very end of it when the Pinkertons were hunting down any and all outlaw gangs because they were seen as uncivilized remnants of a dead era. And these rifles existed back in this time period.

Crouching and moving in a circle and then deadeye quick scoping me off my wagon isn’t western. And yes believe it or not people play this game as a Wild West game

I figured out that stamina tonics and the oregano big game improves green ability cards like iron lung or peak condition a lot. Though, this build is great with 1v1 fights, but not when you fight more than one player since you don't have any defense and only one card for damage reduction.

I love this build. However, it’s an Achilles heel in the sense that it makes you a 1 shot kill for pretty much anyone firing back at you, so your shots need to be fast and they need to count. Not a lot of room for error.

Useful to know when dealing with griefers, but I do think sniping ruins much of the PVP. The exciting old west vibes of six shooters and shotguns are somewhat rendered null and void by endless nut jobs weilding scoped Carcano rifles and gulping down tonics.

I completely agree. I use the Carcano as much as anyone since it's so op but my hope is that if rockstar ever makes a RDR3, it's set in the 1880s for a few reasons. For starters, this was the height of the wild west. The setting of RDR2 is towards the end of the time of the outlaws/gunslingers while in RDR1 it's pretty much over. Would be nice to have one of these games take place during the actual height of that era. Another reason being that a number of these weapons simply didn't exist then. The Carcano, Pump-Action shotgun, Semi-Auto shotgun, and pistols (except volcanic) came out in the 1890s. I'd prefer a game more centered around revolvers, repeaters and rifles (excluding Carcano) with double barreled and sawed-offs as your only shotguns. Would make the game more authentic to the era IMO. You could still add scopes to other rifles but sniping wouldn't be quite as common and effective as it currently is in RDO. Also wouldn't have those ugly pistols (mauser & semi-auto) that are effective but just feel too out of place. I also wish they'd make tonics less effective or limit them somehow as well. Like sure most games have some type of health regeneration but it's far too integral to this game IMO.

How effective is “camouflage” if they have to be on the map to be seen so you are able to shoot them? And if that is the case they can just see your blue, or red, dot on the mini map and know your exact location anyway. It’s counter productive. Also, the sniper is the individual pulling the trigger. A sniper rifle is the rifle that is used to kill some poor bastard. While there is obviously no reason to clarify that I felt the pointless need to do so.

Oh wow...I've never seen a fully sprinted buck fly that far from a shot to the head. That was amazing! I just recently spent the time upgrading all of my ability cards to 3, I slacked on it for awhile and now I'm happy it's done. Thank you for the info and explanations. Subscriber for life now

I use pib for the accuracy boost when i use semi, mauser or double action, but focus fire's damage boost and lock on might win me over if I use gunslinger's choice.

my snipe tactics (works extremely good against griefers as their going to attack you 1st and this will allow you to stay in defensive).: defensive for 100 percent extra health with level 3 tonics giving you a sniping advantage and your harder to hit but its just as easy to hit your enemy,. At close range your enemy will be at free aim and so will you in defensve so use dynamite arrows as they will most likely be trying to shotgun you. use from regular bow dynamite arrows for x2 damage. if they dont die use sawed offs to run to them and while their getting up, finish them with incindiaries. Use slippery as if they try to spam their pistols/repeaters/revolvers, you will not only dodge them in defensive but also slippery will make them miss even if they hit you in free aim with pistol. Use carcano as it gives you faster firing rate. rolling block only for very long ranges as i think lot more likley to hit. Use build passive cards, shapshooter, landons patience and peak condition for extra damage.

For pve, my sniper build would be A moment to recuperate, sharpshooter, iron lung, unblinking eye. For a main weapon I like the rolling block though carcano would be meta, use a double barrel shotgun as a secondary (I use varmint or lancaster for hunting). As for off hand slot I run navy revolver (its a given) and a sawn off shotgun as a backup in case I miss my double barrel shots. This might not be meta at all but it’s quite fun picking everyone off at range and since you’re far away from gunfights, a moment to recuperate is much better as you dont get shot as often. Shotguns are just in case enemies sneak up on you and navy for mid range Edit: some spelling

For I'd rather replace focus fire with paint it black and peak condition with eye for an eye and carcano rifle with rolling block because the fire rate doesn't matter too much when you are sniping and the rolling block's extra damage should replace focus fire allowing me to use paint t black

landon’s patience increases damage after the last shot fired. every second the damage increases up to a maximum of 15 seconds. the card is poorly described, but I assure you it works that way, and it’s a good card. however this build is not the best, no defense and the risk is to be killed with a single shot, not to kill in one shot.

It means take a shot (fire your gun) and then wait for any amount of time up to 15 seconds to get a damage increase. You don’t have to hit your enemy either. I usually end up missing a round or two and by the time you get back on target you have waited enough time.

If you use focus fire, that should do enough for your lemats and carcanos. I run those revolvers and tbh while quite situational, I find that they're super good with focus fire alone.

@@dogehellkitty2926 Landons applies the full damage buff with the very first shot you take. From that moment on, it’s charging up damage until you shoot again, maxing out at 15 seconds without shooting. If you miss that first shot, well you’ve kind of blown your load so to speak. I wouldn’t shoot up in the air if I where you. Landons is a very situational card. Really good for something like a double barrel shotgun. But if you’re constantly shooting, you aren’t really getting any benefit from it at all, which is why I almost never use it.
