I have a very similar board to you now, previously I had been using a valve amp. The band decided to go to in ear monitoring so thought it was the perfect time to switch to the IR200. I already had the HX effects so made sense rather than a full blown modeler. Fantastic vid, it has really helped me out. My next step is to make the use of the midi.

Hey James. Thx for the comment. So I have 3 boards. I’ve an ES8 board with pedals for recording and headline gigs, a travel board and this board. This one gets used more than anything else. It’s a just a brilliant combo. Also I have it set up that I can go play a gig and put it in front of an amp and simultaneously send the IR200 To the desk if I want. It really is a super versatile and great sounding setup. Really glad you found the video useful

Very nice. I am building a similar setup and needed to know how to send one cable to an amp and another to p.a with my simplifier dlx, that additionaly lets you bypass both pre and cab sim of any channel. Great!

Recently purchased a pedal board from thomann. It has a built in power supply with a 9v, 3A output (among many others) which is perfect for building a board around the HX effects. Now just have to make up my mind which other pedals will surround it. Thanks for the insights. Take care.

@@TheGuitarEffect Yeah. That's cool. I've thought about the HX Stomp as an all in one solution, but I've only heard one modeller that had a good micro pitch and that was a Fractel which I can't justify for what I do. Great stuff, but just too expensive compared to a Boss GT 1000 or HX Stomp, etc. I really like Roland / Boss stuff. I have the 50 watt Katana and I love the brown channel. It sounds like a tube amp, but doesn't feel like one so to speak. Good stuff though and very cool how you use midi my friend. Very cool . ♥️🤘 Be well sir and be safe. Great videos my brother. Hey Tim. When you say micropitch what exact effect are you talking about? Pitch shifting? The pitch shifting on the HX Effects is excellent. I use it for faux 12 string and whammy and octave down. It does those all extremely well. My Bro is a huge John Mellincamp fan. I grew up with it blaring from his bedroom. I guess I should say hello from county Kildare in Ireland home to Damien Rice! And adjacent to Dublin home to a few lads from north Dublin called Paul, Larry, Adam and Dave. Otherwise known as U2. I’ve beamed into the edge a few times in their local pub on Baggot street. He sometimes used to have a pint and read the paper at the bar on a Sunday afternoon. Nobody ever bothered him!!

@@TheGuitarEffect Hi man. Yes, Micropitch like used in Steve Vai s stuff in the movie crossroads and EVH used it, etc, but in raco form back in the day. Eventide now has the Micropitch with delays and it's just stellar. I've only heard the fractal do the same with as excellent pitch shifting, but I've not heard it in the HX or the stomp and I assume it's probably good like the fractal. Very cool man about U2. Yeah, I dated a girl that was the cousin to John. His original guitarist was Larry Crane whose mother owned a music store called Cranes and it was a cool mom and pop store and I used to go there and play all the new Dean Vs and stuff and Gibsons and Fenders when I couldn't afford them, but she treated me so well. She passed away a while back, but I loved that woman and her store. My best friend's mothers family is from Ireland originally. We have so many musicians from this city of 20k that it's amazing to me. Very very cool about U2 man.. Have a great day brother. Tim...

@@TheGuitarEffect I tried to paste a demo. I assume you have that turned off and I understand. Too many scammers. Anyway, if you search here on KZbin for eventide micro pitch demo Pete Thorn you can see how it is so cool. You can raise or lower pitch up to 50 cents, like EVH used 9 cents high on one channel and 9 cents low o. the other. It's like a chorus, but no modulation. Also, the same pedal has tap tempo and you can set up two delays if you want with pitch shifting on the delays and you can also just set it up for a slap back delay if you want as well as micro pitch shifting. It has like 128 possible stored presets if you want to use it that way. Back in the day it was a huge big rack effect and it cost thousands and I always wanted to play thru one in the 80s but never had the chance and now you can buy the pedal for like 250 bucks that does what the rack effect did. Another great example is the Steve Vai tone on the movie crossroads where he's playing the rhythm in the movie when there is the dual with the karate kid. 🤣.. His guitar tone is killer though with that cool Jackson guitar ! Before he was an Ibanez endorser... I think he had just signed on and if you look at the headstock they put tape over the Jackson part of the logo to insure he could use it in the movie because of his contract with Ibanez I believe that is correct. 🤣 Be well sir and God speed man. ♥️🤘♥️🤘♥️

Dang - I’ve been using an almost identical setup for my main gigging board for more than a year, centred an HX Effects, along with an IR-200 and a REVV G2 for drive. I have the REVV in one of the loops and I treat the IR-200 like a real amp, connected via 4 cable method to the second loop of the HX Effects. Everything is controlled via the HX Effects using midi, control centre and loop switching. Using a Voodoo Labs Digital to power the whole thing. I have no need of a looper, but I would like more control and flexibility of my drive tones. The G2 is absolutely brilliant, but can’t be controlled via midi. So I’m looking at the OD-200 to replace it and came across your videos. I’m sold and will pick up an OD-200 asap!
@mkdawson1908 Жыл бұрын
I do have a question for you. Is there any reason you wouldn’t just put the OD-200 in front of the IR-200 in the same loop, given that you can bypass the OD-200 through midi? The only reason I can think of is if you want to put any HX Effects blocks between the OD-200 and the Preamp stage of the IR-200. I treat the preamp as part of my “drive” section and run all my modulation and time-based effect after the preamp (or after the IR cab sim, to simulate desk or studio post processing). Compressor is usually before the drive section or after the cabinet. This setup would free up a loop on the HX FX for a “dry” send (I run full stereo and IEMs - never have an amp on stage). Even though FOH is mono, we simulcast live online in stereo.
@TheGuitarEffect Жыл бұрын
Hey MK. Thx for the comments. Just to be clear I do t actually have need of a looper either I just use it to play my band’s backing tracks. I do t play guitar through it at all. The reason I don’t have the IR200 Preamp in the same loop as the OD200 is I like to be able to separate them to put some effects between them. Like boosts for example. But I could just use the boost on the IR200. Worth exploring. Thx

Hi great Video so my question is how do you connect the IR 200 the DD200 and the SY200 together in Stereo and what goes first please help Thanks
@TheGuitarEffect11 ай бұрын
The easiest way to do that is to go SY200 left and right out to left and right in of IR200 to left and right in of DD200. Technically your delay repeats should go before your speaker sim in the IR200 in which case you’d need to put the DD200 in the IR200’s FX loop but I’m not sure if that loop is stereo. If it is stereo it’s on TRS jacks which means you’d need 2 TRS to dial mono leads to connect the DD 200 in the loop of the IR200. But honestly I don’t think it makes any difference I’d just do it the top way I mentioned.

@TheGuitarEffect6 ай бұрын
Hey. There’s no reason to put the OD200 in the loop of the IR200. I’d say put it before. Use the Od200 boost for more gain and the IR200 boost for more volume.

Hey Bill. Thx for the comment. If you have an amplifier already you could just plug into the effects loop return. If so you could use that for gigging and so studio monitors would definitely be the better choice. As you could also use them for recording. Cheers. Rob

Okay. That’s not easy. Both unit have MIDI on board first of all and in this setup I use MIDI with both. But you could replace the IR200 with a Joyo American sound and run the IR in the HX effects instead.I’m not aware of an affordable (below €100) MIDI capable multi OD/Distortion/fuzz pedal. A second hand TC nova drive is probably your best bet there.but if you only want one distortion sound any budget pedal for OD/distortion would do. Hope that helps

Sir, Thanks for the info i have a question regarding the midi function. I have hx effects and tone x pedal with 1 volume and wah pedal and 1 expression pedal. My problem is how to do the wiring so that whatever preset i choose on hx effects it is also happening with the tone x means the amp or cabs selected on tone x hope you understand what I'm trying to say.. Thanks in advance sir..
@TheGuitarEffect6 ай бұрын
Hey thx for the comment. So first off that is definitely doable. What you need to do is set up as many different presets as you need on the ToneX and make sure you know what is where so for example: ToneX preset 1: fender amp ToneX preset 2: vox amp ToneX preset 3. Marshall amp Then as you select a preset (or a snapshot within a preset) you’ll need to tell the HX effects to recall a specific preset number with a program change message in ten command centre. If you don’t know how to do that action it’s not something I can describe with text unfortunately. It’s just to complicated. I’d advise looking for videos on programming MIDI on the HX effects on f you can’t get it sorted I do sometimes do zoom calls with people to help them sort these kind of problems. I do charge for that though. If you want help let me know if not all good.

Can you use the hx effects as a ABY to switch between the ir200, a real amp or run them both?
@TheGuitarEffect11 ай бұрын
Hey. Thx for the comment. So right now I can use both and amp and an IR 200 via two different outputs. And you could route your signal to either or both per preset. Does that answer your question?

You could also switch between the IR200 and an amp’s preamp per preset both coming out of the amps speaker if you wanted to do that.

Hello. I think HX effects would be perfect for my use, but I've seen some reports of noise on the send return. Did you notice something like that? I saw that there are new updates available, and there seem to be new amplifiers. Are there even pre amps available or does this unit still need a pre amp?
@TheGuitarEffect Жыл бұрын
Hey Fael. Thx for the comment. So I’ll answer your questions one by one: 1. I’ve never experienced any noise on either of the effects loops. But I have had issues with noise using the footswitch jacks for changing amp channels. 2. There are no preamps of any kind in the HX effects. It’s effects only (but really outstanding effects) and it has the capability to load IRs however it doesn’t come with IRs. 3. There are updates all the time and they really add to the functionality of the unit. Lastly I’d say that I’ve used the Joyo American sound in the effects loop before and it’s been really outstanding with a nice fender style IR.

No I didn’t actually but the reason I didn’t was because this is how I would actually run an amp and it can do it pretty easily.
