Using only the factory IRs (144 Boss + 10 Celesion) there would be 11,935 combinations of any two in stereo (its the sum 154+153+152...etc). Plus any of the 154 individually in mono = 12,089 IR combinations x 8 amps = 96,712 total possible amp and IR combinations in either mono or stereo. If you played each one for one minute, for 8 hours a day, it would take 202 days to get through all of them.

It baffled me for a half hour that when I turned the ambience down or off why I still heard it. Apparently the knob for that doesn’t doing anything if the headphone surround is engaged. If you’re plugged into a board it’s fine but headphones it’s active. Weird…

There are many IR products on the market, but I think DYNAX IR has the best sound. As stated in their product description, DYNAX IR is really fast. When using IRs, the pick attack is sometimes delayed, and it is difficult to add picking nuances, but their IR prevents all of that. It's revolutionary!

Rabea - my wife and I are about to start learning guitar and I want to get a decent little modeler for our initial setup. could this be combined with a victory v4 power amp ? 1)could i use only the preamp of the boss connected to the victory? 2)could i use the cab sim of the boss into the preamp of the victory ? i need to mention that all of those would be connected to a pedal switcher using the 4 cable method so i could have my other pedals in pre or post depending on the patch i select ? and if all that is possible what would be the connections ? the goal would be to use the pedal switcher and for example bypass the boss and only have the victory v4 with some effects (pre or post) and then on another patch bypass the victory pre amp and have one selected from the boss with some of the effects in pre or post too.

Yes with a TRS loop and the 1 footswitch for toggling between clean/dirty amp. So a pedal that's always on a soon as you plug it in because there's no reason you would want to footswitch it off while playing. And the clean/dirty footswitch would save you the need of an additional drive pedal on a very small board (e.g. nano+ pedalboard). However, I believe such a simple pedal could be done with a fully analog signalpath, just filters and gain. I hope one day Boss does that because why go digital when you don't need to to sound great.

Why the IRs are lacking and have no bottom end is because for whatever reason nobody figured out yet that you also need to have a speaker impedance curve impulse response loader along with the cab ir loader. they should have 2 slots for loading these separate impulse responses. It's what Fractal does and why Fractal feel like a real amp and sounds 10 times better than any competitor out there. We can however do this into a DAW with two instances of Wall Of Sound running one for cab IR and one for speaker impedance IR and it sounds massive
@markconger80493 жыл бұрын
From a Nita Strauss review of it the GT-1000 and GT-1000Core have what you’re describing and she says it makes the unit feel and sound much better than traditional modelers. Boss pulled a rabbit out of their hat with the GT-1000 series. I wonder if the IR-200 is as good.

It's not a review, it's a paid showcase. It's very important to understand the difference. I think the problem with using it as an IR box is you would still need a load box between the amp and the IR-200 as I did not see anything mentioned saying this could also function as a load box and it wouldn't make sense since Boss already has a load box IR loader.
