This video was jam packed full of information and inspiration. Thank you for taking the time to put it together for us. #1 I still haven't tried this method, so I have a couple of questions. One, when you burn the paper or napkin away does the decoupage medium still need to be wet? I've heard some say it does and others say that it can be done either way, so I wanted to clarify. The first project you did the medium looked wet. The projects that were painted white I was unable to tell so I wanted to ask the expert. (Answered on #9) Secondly, I've heard a lot of people complain about the crispy burnt edges that are left after using this method. I could see this working well for rustic projects but not when you want a cleaner look. I didn't notice the burnt edges on the projects you painted white first. Do you have a tip to remove or diminish the burnt looking edges after using the burn method? #8 Do you prefer creating and designing your own custom napkins to decoupage over creating and designing and image to use on white tissue paper? If so, what do you think the benefit of using napkins over tissue paper is? I have decoupaged with both items. I usually design and print on tissue paper. I think I use it because it is readily available at the DT and I don't have many napkins in my stash. I'm definitely going to give napkins a try. I was just curious if you prefer one over the other and why? Also, have you ever tried the water transfer method with tissue paper? I would think it would be too delicate. #18 I love the soap. I have to admit, I didn't understand or appreciate the decorative soap from my childhood. Seeing this project was a bit nostalgic for me. What you created was not my grandmother's soap. Instead, it was fun as well as decorative. I'm definitely doing this. Especially since you said it can still be used if anyone chose to do so. I can't stop thinking of all of the cheeky phases you could put on them just to give someone an unexpected smile. I am curious to know why you recommend hairspray to seal in the ink for those of us using ink jet printers versus using something like Rustoleum Clear spray sealer? Will spray sealer work as well? #20 Wow! What an amazing find that lamp base was. It is gorgeous. I can't believe someone would throw that away. The craftsmanship and work that had to go into creating it should be appreciated alone. I'm so glad you rescued it. #23 I was surprised to hear that the cans can show rust after a while. I've made several myself and have re-used them in my decor over the years. I have never had that issue. I will definitely watch for that in the future.

I always do it when it’s wet and make sure to trim away most of the napkin because if you don’t, it will flare up and that’s what causes the scorch

Are you not able to just add the scrapbooking paper on to whatever your decoupaging? I love to burn the extra parts of it great idea do you keep it or burn it while it's still wet or dry
@OurUpcycledLifeАй бұрын
If you’re doing the burning technique, it has to be wet

I have a piece of posterboard about 20 x 24 that I have mounted some pages from my coloring book. I want to know if I can decopage these colored pages onto the posterboard.? I attached the pages with double sided scotch tape on the back sides. I want to somehow preserve my project to keep the pages and colors bright and attractive. Can you help me?
@OurUpcycledLife5 күн бұрын
Yes you can use decoupage glue to preserve the pages!

Give her a break, she does live in a different country! And maybe that’s how she/Canadians “pronounce” it. She’s great!

Nice work thank you. Please pronounce it right, it's pronounced deck o pauge , not dEc o pauge. I'm in my 70's and have been doing it for many years. Suddenly lots of crafters say it wrong. Sorry to be a craft Karen. Lol.
@debballiet7381Ай бұрын
In my area they say day co pauge. Different accents, pronunciation happen across the country. Doesn’t make one right or wrong - just unique. Beautiful and informative video - thoroughly enjoyable.

I am enoyed when a product has a french name and it isn't researched how to pronounce it. Even the company that made the product. Or uses a french artist and his name is pronounced wrong. Or pumpkin pronounced punkin. I suppose that would go back to the parents not correcting their child or teachers. Or watching an adult still holding a fork and knife like a toddler learning to use a fork and knife. I too am older. I recently asked a young man if he was taught cursive and no he wasn't, he can't even read cursive writing. As well as another faux pas, while I'm not savvy with digital payments, youths don't know how to write out a check . Or keep a checking account. Scary to say the least.

She's from Canada. People say words differently. So where you are from it might be said a different way. It's pretty rude to tell her how to say something.
