Thanks for this recent video on these Denon headphones. I’ve been looking at them myself, especially the 7200. I’m needing to replace a 1st Gen set of Beyerdynamic T5P headphones that have been problematic since I bought them. They have a short in them. They are very well made though I might add, sans the “short”. I like your Sonus Fabers in the background more than anything though. Unfortunately, there are no shops (that I know of) in the Houston area that have these headphones to try out first. Thank you.

I love my D7200. My second year of owning them. I've got them paired with a DAP from Astell & Kern (Kann Alpha) or a Hip Dac 3 when listening from my computer. Amazing headphones. They are also so beautiful. No hotspot for me. Very comfortable.

How is the bass? Is it punchy and strong? Also does it have good clarity compared to the others? I found it for 650$ in my region and I am considering buying it.
@GlennEdell2 ай бұрын
@@moh7286 The base is incredible. Very punchy and strong but also snappy. I'm an EQ guy though and have EQ'd the hell out of these headphones to get the sound just right for my hearing. Giving it a slight push in the base makes these headphones deliver on a whole new level. I can't praise them enough.

@@GlennEdell can you please tell me what equipment you did to them? I heard that they lack treble or a bit muffled sounding but very good bass. I care about bass but I also care about clarity, vocals, soundstage so what did you change to improve what part of the headphone? I would be grateful if you answered that.

@@TheSourceAVDesignGroup my pleasure my friend. The 9200 and the DCA E3 are the only other closed backs I’m interested in lately.

Having owned the 9200 , I can say it's an easy listen. It leaned warmer to me than say the Sennheiser line of headphones (including the HD820), so looking for a detailed experience left me wanting more for my use case (gaming, movies, some music). Even the HD569 did better with details than the 9200, even though it wasn't nearly as resolving. This headphone is perfect for someone who wants an easy listening experience and doesn't need to hear something super detailed or analytical. It also doesn't isolate well as the HD569, so I could hear more things around me. All that said, I kinda miss that headphone. It's a really comfortable ride

Have been using the D9200 for over a year, I think they are just awesome overall. Comfortable for long listens and do everything well. Never need any EQ for me.

Great review What would you choose for yourself d9200 or focal celestee? And how much is the mid range and timbre of d9200 is worse than d7200? And is d9200 technically more capable and better than meze 109 pro?
@TheSourceAVDesignGroup8 ай бұрын
I don't really like closed back headphones but I would probably choose the Celestee over all the Denon Closed back headphones in this video without being able to side-by-side them it's hard to say. The 9200 isn't necessarily worse and some will prefer it as I said the clarity and openness in the mid range is far better with the 9200.

@@TheSourceAVDesignGroup how much is the mid bass worse then d7200? Is d9200 technically more capable than meze 109 pro?
@TheSourceAVDesignGroup8 ай бұрын
Again, it's not “worse,” just a different, cleaner-sounding midrange that is a bit pulled back along with some of the midbass when compared to the 7200. Both headphones need EQ, as I said in the video already, for my preferences, but others will love them as is. I haven't compared the 109pro with the 9200; one is open back, and one is closed back. They both have treble-forward tunings and good detail reproduction for dynamic driver headphones in their respective price ranges.

Yes, IMO the 9200 differs enough from the other two headphones if you like their tuning.

I have lcd-2 closed back, from your previous comparison I wanted to try dan clark aeon 2 noire, but now I’m thinking about purchasing a d9200. can you give your preference of these two models, dan clark noire or d9200
@TheSourceAVDesignGroup5 ай бұрын
I like both headphones but the d9200 is a bit brighter sounding in the treble so it really depends on if you like planar sound or dynamic and your tolerance to treble.
@Fallgott5 ай бұрын
@@TheSourceAVDesignGroup I like detail and resolution at high frequencies But the main thing is that they should be free of sibilants. Considering that I have closed planars, they lose some advantages over open planars, so my guess is that the d9200 is better than mine in all aspects

Judging by the driver and frequency response, the 5200 and 7200 speakers are from Foster. The speaker design is classic (on a rubber suspension) for headphones and has a poor stereo image. I listened to several Denon and Fostex, even a Pioneer Monitor 10. They all have a mediocre stereo field. It's depressing. According to reviews, Focal has the same thing.
