I was watching a meteor shower couple months back in the field next to my apartment. About 2am. Small buck walked up towards me. At first I was curious what he was gonna do. Then about 10-15 yards out, dead locked eyes and he "huffed" like this at me. I knew instantly what time it was. I only have 1 leg so I couldn't run or move fast. I drew my pistol because I thought he was coming for me. I hollered at him to get. He did put space between us then but was keeping an eye on me for about 30 min until he realized I wasn't a threat to him. Then he just went about grazing and went on his way. Crazy experience

Ive had a huge bull elk pop up 10 feet away in the dark huffin and puffin, doing some fake charge fuckery off some beach on WA coast, definitely felt way too close for comfort but I didn't get that scared. I was out catfishing in the country couple years ago in Eastern Wa, didn't have a flashlight but heard the coyotes across the small river start freaking out followed by the heaviest sounding hoof stomps and what sounded almost like a fucking whale exhaling, the not knowing makes it so much worse, I was in middle of tying on a hook after huge cat had broke me off after getting bitten the previous 3 casts in a row but after hearing that shit I had to trust my "NOPE-instincts" and immediately left, definitely sounded like it was attacking the coyotes not other way around and there had been a moose and herd of roosevelt elk in the area so one of the two

I've got a hot doe on our place right now. I've came home the past two nights and there's been bucks running around in the field behind my house. I sat in the truck for probably 45 minutes watching both nights with the headlights and binoculars. I got up way before day break and have been watching and glassing what limited cover they have and drove back to my dad's place and looked around and nothing. I found fresh tracks this morning where they have fed on acorns. I'm coming to the conclusion that this area is where this doe is feeding late evening/ dark 30ish.. I know my time is limited because these bucks don't live here on our 50 acers. We only have 2or 3 doe on a regular basis.. I'm closing up shop at 1:00 today and going to work the wind and wait for them this evening and try the grunt and snort wheeze... Other than that has anyone got any other suggestions??? life time hunter at 50 and have killed a tractor trailer load of deer but this situation has me stumped...

That's something we made clear a few years ago when we started having deer showing up on our place. We have never taken a doe here.. We have hunted all our lives and I mean we're deer killers. There's photo albums full of pictures of truck beds and trees hanging full of deer. The deer population is just now starting to get to the point that we can actually hunt on our place and not have to drive 200+miles to middle or west Tennessee to hunt. We have always had to hunt wma or tva public land. If we want to just put some meat in the freezer, then we will go hunt on some public to take does. I own a barber shop, and I try to explain to younger or less experienced hunters that complain about only seeing a few doe , that if they want to kill a buck, then that's where you need to hunt . You want to hunt, where you know there's does. Because the does don't go looking for a buck, the bucks will come to the does . The doe is the best bait you could possibly use,,, like the ole saying goes, ain't nothing like the real thing baby.... Lol At some point and time, they will be a buck show up for a "service call" . It's just a matter of time...
