Episode 1 runs look so clean. The only time something is not done the intended way seems to be the jump to yellow key in M4 and even that has been known for 20 years. So this isnt about tricks and glitches just excellent playing

Fortunately, this is a M1 - M7 run, meaning that the M8 time is not counted (hence the 6:16 in brackets). In the old days of doom on the original executables, the time of the final map wasn't shown, and therefore not counted. So in the interest of maintaining compatibility with old runs and records, we only count M1 - M7.

the void glide is only useful if there are no enemies, because with enemies it is just faster to kill both barons of hell.

I hope you can find a minute or two in your day to help me out with the following: 1) E1M2: is there a trick to making the imp not go down the elevator in the final room. It is dropping down about 80% of the time and its causing 23-24 second runs to turn into 25-28 seconds. Very frustrating. i have tried numerous things and they all seem to lead to same imp activity. 2) E1M4: what is the deal with the yellow door? how come it doesnt trigger some times? is it just me? i end up having to click on it up to 6 times on certain runs and i can easily lose 1-3 seconds at this door. Ive hit a 16 (3 times) and numerous 17s but these times are impossible when the door doesnt cooperate. 3) E1M5: what time do you think is required when entering the blue room if you want to hit 1minute or less on this map? my best time is 1:01 (once), 1:02 (twice) but usually getting 1:10. ive been trying to do this with no help but im getting nowhere.

1) not really, I just stand right of the door when I open it and run in on the left side I think. 2) There's an elevator that is active with the same action that prevents it from opening, if you go the left side and kill the zombieguy on the right it should give you a bit more time, if you're quick enough it's usually not a problem. 3) no idea, it's a difficult map, getting a bad time there is common for everyone.

thanks for the answers! Yeah on M2, Ive had the most success on runs where i open the door and move right to gain momentum instead of backwards (as you mention). Im glad to know im not doing something wrong here and its just an RNG thing. M4 i always go left. learned its just the better option than going right for the sake of less turns. ill try implementing the zomieguy kill. usually im facing the other way after having shot the imp in the previous (second) room. ill keep grinding M5. thanks again!
