Nice review! How come no sound test / comparison to a known speaker? Like the JBL Extreme 3 for eg? I for one, would love to hear this speaker!

It’s better than the JBL Extreme 3 in an outdoor environment naturally. However, by changing the EQ on the mega boom, it can get clean and better results. JBL speakers are usually high on mid and treble and sound clearer rather than having good bass and mega boom is made for outdoors and bass heavy songs

You said replacing the Megaboom 2, but there's no such thing lol. They only named it the Megaboom 3 so it's naming convention matches the Boom 3 (likely to avoid confusing people into thinking the Boom 3 is newer and better)

80Rods It’s completely pointless to test speakers on youtube. The microphone chabges the sound, youtube compression changes it and then it alö depends on what you listen to this video on. So there is absolutely no point in showing what it ’sounds’ like, because no matter what it doesnt sound like that.

There is no Megaboom 2. They only named it that because they allready had a UE Boom 2 and they wanted to "sync up" the numbers.

I actually bought the megaboom 3 today and used a normal megaboom for Like 2 or 3 years and was shocked that the megaboom 3 actually has very very flat Bass that's barely noticable so i'll probly Bring it Back to the Store and Just buy 2 standard megabooms for the money. But i will Test more extensively and come Back to this comment section

So i tested it a little more and if you go Into the App into the equalizer and crank the Bass Up it sounds allright but i honestly think the old one still has better bass. But if we're talking about the Higher frequencies i think these are way cleaner and nicer than on the original megaboom. Hope this helped 😄

...Aggreed I have the regular mega boom. Annoying Voice of the mega boom 3 doesn’t talk to me on the other ones. Don’t need annoying app. I gave the mega boom 3 to my granddaughter. Have 4 megaboom and megaboom Le that they still sell as of about December 2019. The old versions have an AUX port.

NTH THN The megablast is it’s own thing. There was no megaboom 2. UE just wanted the numbers of the mega boom and boom to match up. There was a boom 2 but not megaboom 2.

Kevin H got to setting them go to the Bluetooth tab and hold the Bluetooth pairing button on the speaker until the speaker makes a noise and it says it’s connected on the iPad or iphone

Really enjoyed this review, thanks! But why not even a short example of the sound quality at a decent volume without your commentary? It is not possible to audition the sound quality where I am planning to buy mine, Argos, and I don't fancy having to schlep all the way back into Manchester (using the tram because no car...) to return it if I don't like the sound! Plus mentioning which Bluetooth version it uses would have been helpful, I'm going to have to Google just that one spec... Apart from the couple of points mentioned here I really enjoyed your review and the sexy hairy belly was an added bonus even though it kept distracting me from speaker (I'm gay...) 😋🌈 😂. How are the batteries? I have 4 megabooms. If you put a full charge on them (100%) and let them sit for awhile without playing them you will find that the batteries have lost some charge. They will be at 80% to 50% charged. Maybe even lower depending how long you let them sit. UE no longer has me as a customer.

Even over the extreme witch are way to large to take with you if you compare them with the size of the megaboom. And the app stinks, no updates and it just doesn't work. The UE app works great and has nice features. They are all great speakers but don't bash the megabooms...

Main difference is the design and controls - but the original is still super rugged and awesome quality. The 3 will link up with older speakers, so you can always get both ;)

Why would you buy an old tech product? Anything more than a year it's getting towards the end of the products lifecycle. Of course you can still use it for many more years but you should get close to the evolutionary upgrades as possible.
