Bummer about the glazing, but she floats...so that's good!!! Your hull has nice lines. Can't wait to see the water-taxi trials.

Thanks @Paul Slevinsjy yes but at least it’s an easy fix just a silly oversight on my part thanks for that appreciate it .Now I have seen it in the water I can’t wait to start some powered testing 👍

@@michaelhille261 I built a little airboat. I was going to float-test the mold plug and tune any issues before creating the fiberglass copy. Unfortunately I had to substitute some press-board in the mold because of supply issues (floating it probably would've destroyed it). I'll be floating the glass hull in the next month or so. p.s. I .... HATE ... working with glass
@michaelhille2613 жыл бұрын
That sounds awesome Paul. Good luck with the testing hahah yes Fibreglass gets itchy I'm not the best at glass work. but finish can be real nice though

Once again a great job by you and your mates. Still concerned about land landings and the Free swivelling nose wheel if it does a 180 on contact with the tarmac, it is not a small tailwheel aft of CG but a large on forward of the CG. I agree a sponson aft makes total sense. Again great job Michael
@michaelhille2613 жыл бұрын
Thanks William. I completely agree with your concerns on the nose wheel I have been thinking about that too and was going to test it on the runway without wings but I have 2 options one was a steering damper set up this would stop any shimmer too and the other was a push pull cable connected to the rudder and go full steering. So yeah definitely thinking about it . The one thing missing was my little helper hahah

@@michaelhille261 did you consider tucking in the front wheel vs raising it out of the way? I’m sure you did, I look forward to your video explaining what went wrong.
@michaelhille2613 жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph sorry for the late reply my notification didn't work and i missed a few comments. Yes it would be really nice to tuck it away and i played with heaps of ways to do in in Fusion while designing it but i couldn't get it to work with such a large wheel and i wanted the big wheels for all terrain so i guess it was a bit of a trade off.

Looks awesome. Curious to hear how dry did it stay inside on this first float test? Is there a bulge pump at the low point yet? Very cool project. Great videos also!!
@michaelhille2613 жыл бұрын
I only had 1 leak from a rivet hole I had missed deliberately and forgot to tape it around the boom strut plates. Yes I definitely will have a bilge pump and will be part of my Pre flight in water operations to turn on and look for water 💦. Thanks for watching and following along 👍

Michael you and I have spoken before. Thanks for sharing your build and struggles. Loads of respect. Right now I am struggling with the Pontoons (size, shape, and location) on my aircraft design. Watching this video has helped to inspire me to just do it and worry about it later. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6S7d6aIareUncU

Hi Danny yes I remember. Good to see you are still going ahead with your design. It all comes down to volume and cg as to where you want it to sit. For it to sit level you need the same submerged volume in front of the cg and behind the cg . Obviously I’m still tweaking mine 👍
