Could one cross cut a 2x4 or 2x6 with this saw? THNX
@ronh93842 жыл бұрын
Good review. My first Festool was the TS55 corded version with a vacuum years ago… With track. I recently purchased the TSC 55 KEB. My grandson has never done any woodworking before and he wants to build a desk and a bed for his room. I didn’t want him using the tablesaw yet and the anti-kickback feature on the TSC-55K REB I felt would be safer for him to learn on and my wife and daughter-in-law agreed. I also own the Festool HKC 55 saw and track for cutting 2x4 material along with their cross cut track. I bought the HKC55 to build a shed and a dock at my friends lake house. Well, technically he bought the HKC55 for me in exchange for building the shed and the dock. At the time there was zero power there so I used the Dewalt 1800, I think power station to run the Festool vacuum and charge the batteries as well as some of the house lights. Since then he had a generator installed and power lines should be up and running by this summer. For anyone looking to buy a tracksaw consider getting the tracksaw and vacuum at the same time. Or if you are buying a router or domino consider getting the vacuum and router or vacuum and domino, etc at the same time. You get a discount when you buy both together over buying them separately. Separately you pay full price. Festool rarely discounts anything and every Festool vendor sells for the same price. That way you can purchase it where ever you want to since the pricing is the same everywhere. If you are new to woodworking or don’t have a track-saw yet, read all the comments. There are good observations and first hand knowledge in the comment section. I also use my DEWALT power station to run the Festool vacuum and use the track and battery powered saw to cut plywood to size in the parking lot if the big box store doesn’t have some one to run the saw or it is broken…. Or just cutting bad. Good luck. If you purchase a Festool tracksaw of any style, you won’t regret it. You will say “why did I wait so long?”! I did!!! Get whatever brand floats your boat or your pocket book. Any dealer will let you try what they have and explain the features. Good luck! And good luck to anyone hopping to win the KREG track saw! Ron

I just went out and got the corded version (TS-55 FEQ F plus) today based on this video. Took me two months to save up. But decided on this over an upgrade to my table saw from a rigid portable. $700 table saw wouldn’t be much of a upgrade from it. So saving for a sawstop next!

I would like to see a comparison. The features and price points are so radically different it would be interesting to see where the lower cost Kreg may come up short or where the added cost of the Festool is really worth the expense. Obviously, there is not "one size fits all" and fanboys will be fanboys, but I think this would be useful. Thanks for the great, informative video. BTW, my sanding blocks and dry lubricant you recommended in your earlier video arrived today, so my stationary tools will get a nice polish this weekend. Thanks for the recommendation.

@99trampis2 жыл бұрын
Rob, I was one of those people too. Still am to a point. I admit I have recently taken a sip of the Festool green koolaid with a few of the less expensive tools (sanders & CXS drill/driver) and a CT26 dust collector. They are amazing tools and I'd recommend them to anyone. And these particular tools are in the price range of other brands. I use a DeWalt cordless track saw with my Festool tracks (YES, they work in spite of many people saying they're not compatible!) and have been happy so far. Does the Festool saw have more features than my DeWalt? Yes. Are these features more convenient? Yes. But since I already have my DeWalt, I'm not going to be switching over. Maybe if my DeWalt dies then MAYBE. But the Festool saw is considerably more expensive than my DeWalt. Also, in my opinion, the Festool dust collectors are the best system I've ever used, hands down worth every penny.

Love to see the comparison with the Wen 7 1/4" blade. Been look at it over Wen's 6 1/2" because it has a 5/8" arbor and the 6 1/2" has a 20 mm arbor. You get more blade options with the 5/8" arbor and a deeper cut.

you can also use the 4.0 ahr batteries to reduce the weight even more. I have the same saw and for me it's all apart of the Festool ecosystem, MFT-3 , fence, guide rail, dust collection. I had the Kreg saw but sold it when I moved to the TSC 55K. The difference is night and day. I am getting incredible cuts in birch ply as well as melamine with the Festool. The thing that really turned me off on the Kreg was the fact that the rotational axis of the bevel makes the blade undercut the rubber strip which then ruins 90 degree cuts. I probably would have gone with the corded TS 55 F if it had been out at the time but being able to break down sheet goods in a parking lot put me at piece with having yet another battery platform :/

Of course, and for the amount of real world use it gets I can do some beautiful work with the Wen if used carefully and correctly, but I chose the Makita. I'm sure the Festool is a fabulous, spectacular incredible tool...... but I also drive a F150 XLT instead of the F150 Platinum Edition which costs almost twice as much. I get that some guys derive their identity from the cost and quality of their tools. All I care about is the quality of the final product, and I know the Makita easily gets me there at half the price.
