Good review. My first Festool was the TS55 corded version with a vacuum years ago… With track. I recently purchased the TSC 55 KEB. My grandson has never done any woodworking before and he wants to build a desk and a bed for his room. I didn’t want him using the tablesaw yet and the anti-kickback feature on the TSC-55K REB I felt would be safer for him to learn on and my wife and daughter-in-law agreed. I also own the Festool HKC 55 saw and track for cutting 2x4 material along with their cross cut track. I bought the HKC55 to build a shed and a dock at my friends lake house. Well, technically he bought the HKC55 for me in exchange for building the shed and the dock. At the time there was zero power there so I used the Dewalt 1800, I think power station to run the Festool vacuum and charge the batteries as well as some of the house lights. Since then he had a generator installed and power lines should be up and running by this summer. For anyone looking to buy a tracksaw consider getting the tracksaw and vacuum at the same time. Or if you are buying a router or domino consider getting the vacuum and router or vacuum and domino, etc at the same time. You get a discount when you buy both together over buying them separately. Separately you pay full price. Festool rarely discounts anything and every Festool vendor sells for the same price. That way you can purchase it where ever you want to since the pricing is the same everywhere. If you are new to woodworking or don’t have a track-saw yet, read all the comments. There are good observations and first hand knowledge in the comment section. I also use my DEWALT power station to run the Festool vacuum and use the track and battery powered saw to cut plywood to size in the parking lot if the big box store doesn’t have some one to run the saw or it is broken…. Or just cutting bad. Good luck. If you purchase a Festool tracksaw of any style, you won’t regret it. You will say “why did I wait so long?”! I did!!! Get whatever brand floats your boat or your pocket book. Any dealer will let you try what they have and explain the features. Good luck! And good luck to anyone hopping to win the KREG track saw! Ron

Its always interesting to see any comparison, between an expensive tool (Festool) and one that is in the common price range (Kreg). Letting us know the differences and determine if the additional cost is worth it. What I haven’t see is a comparison between the Makita and Kreg, would really like to see that.

I just went out and got the corded version (TS-55 FEQ F plus) today based on this video. Took me two months to save up. But decided on this over an upgrade to my table saw from a rigid portable. $700 table saw wouldn’t be much of a upgrade from it. So saving for a sawstop next!

I have the Kreg Adaptive Cutting System. It's served it's purpose but now looking to upgrade. Need at least 96" of track and battery powered means I don't have to be concerned about popping breakers or hiring an electrician to upgrade my power. That would cost $4500 as I need a new higher amperage box.

I would like to see a comparison. The features and price points are so radically different it would be interesting to see where the lower cost Kreg may come up short or where the added cost of the Festool is really worth the expense. Obviously, there is not "one size fits all" and fanboys will be fanboys, but I think this would be useful. Thanks for the great, informative video. BTW, my sanding blocks and dry lubricant you recommended in your earlier video arrived today, so my stationary tools will get a nice polish this weekend. Thanks for the recommendation.

Rob, I was one of those people too. Still am to a point. I admit I have recently taken a sip of the Festool green koolaid with a few of the less expensive tools (sanders & CXS drill/driver) and a CT26 dust collector. They are amazing tools and I'd recommend them to anyone. And these particular tools are in the price range of other brands. I use a DeWalt cordless track saw with my Festool tracks (YES, they work in spite of many people saying they're not compatible!) and have been happy so far. Does the Festool saw have more features than my DeWalt? Yes. Are these features more convenient? Yes. But since I already have my DeWalt, I'm not going to be switching over. Maybe if my DeWalt dies then MAYBE. But the Festool saw is considerably more expensive than my DeWalt. Also, in my opinion, the Festool dust collectors are the best system I've ever used, hands down worth every penny.

I looked at track saws as an alternative to table saws (the size of my workshop won't handle one). Do you think this is a good alternative to circular and table saws? I've looked at track saws as an alternative to the heavy skilsaw and craftsman circular saws my grandpa gave my dad and now suddenly I inherited in Oct. Now thanks to them I'm starting to do woodworking again, just have to update certain tools bc they are way too heavy for me.

Matt, I have to say, it's all your fault I now own a few Festool rools (and I love them). I have the next smaller dust collector from your. I added the festool cyclone. While it's expensive, I haven't had to change a bag or filter yet. I have a Dewalt cordless track saw and it's great, but I think I would opt for a corded festool. Since I have the hose with the cord attached, it's no extra problem to have the cord plugged in.

I had the Kreg saw but sold it when I moved to the TSC 55K. The difference is night and day. I am getting incredible cuts in birch ply as well as melamine with the Festool. The thing that really turned me off on the Kreg was the fact that the rotational axis of the bevel makes the blade undercut the rubber strip which then ruins 90 degree cuts. I probably would have gone with the corded TS 55 F if it had been out at the time but being able to break down sheet goods in a parking lot put me at piece with having yet another battery platform :/
@ianmurray3820
@ianmurray3820 Жыл бұрын
What a nice guy..!! But festool..!! All day use - worth the money, occasional D.I.Y.use with sheet goods, any of the cheaper saws with a decent blade will do the job so long as you take the time to set them up. Also when trimming that splinter gaurd it is best to to be cutting into something as opposed to hanging it over the edge.👍

you can also use the 4.0 ahr batteries to reduce the weight even more. I have the same saw and for me it's all apart of the Festool ecosystem, MFT-3 , fence, guide rail, dust collection. Matt I did notice that you ran the saw off the track, be mindful that once the leading base guide ( the one you tighten to remove the slope on the track) is off the track you no longer have a track guiding the front of the saw. Sedge Tool has some really good videos for review.

One slight difference is the Kreg saw is just a wee bit less money. The other is the Kreg saw can be used in conjunction with their table with mounted track which makes doing repeated cuts easy. Yes, do a review of the Kreg saw with table. I own one and think it is great, however it will not replace a table saw. Both have their uses.

Love the handcuffs in the background on the top shelf @ 1:33!! LOL. Peerless or S&W? I'm a peerless fan myself. I don't like the double locks on the S&W. Glad you don't have to use them every day anymore. Proud of you buddy...#BrotherInBlue

Do you think you could do a video talking about how you do taxes with a small woodworking/KZbin business

It's a hard video to do because you creep into the tax and legal advice that I can't speak to. I recommend a CPA, that's what we do now.

Now all you need is an MFT table then you can give away the ACS table as well. If you do get an MFT table, ditch the mounts and get some from Rob at Dash-Board Portable Workshop

Always great to see these "supertools". I have used the Wen and the Makita. The Makita is hugely a better tool. Can I make do with the Wen? Of course, and for the amount of real world use it gets I can do some beautiful work with the Wen if used carefully and correctly, but I chose the Makita. I'm sure the Festool is a fabulous, spectacular incredible tool...... but I also drive a F150 XLT instead of the F150 Platinum Edition which costs almost twice as much. I get that some guys derive their identity from the cost and quality of their tools. All I care about is the quality of the final product, and I know the Makita easily gets me there at half the price.

The festool kit is $800 and the Makita kit is $600 so about a $200 difference

Here’s a tip …. Buy the Makita guide rail/track rather than the Festool, it’s about a third of the cost and is identical (no change in blade location/position like the Kreg guide you showed). I use the Makita XPS02ZU plunge saw over this Festool unit. It also has Bluetooth technology, is cordless and has all the same features but cost a LOT less. I also use the Makita VC4210L vacuum. It’s also bluetooth and turns on and off when you pull the trigger on the saw.
