Do you know where I can find the Bulge and Scatter DCTLs? I've been lookin everywhere!
@Owlbot6 ай бұрын
Scatter is an aftermarket product, buldge is just what I called the node but the effect is just "lens distortion" which is built in to Resolve. I will say I was playing around recently and found that there's a lens correction parameter, the edit sizing panel and I think that might be a more realistic option cuz lens distortion seems to have a hard hard transition from the affected area to the non-affected area when I was putting it on a grid. Play around with it though!

@@Owlbot I see! I wanted to ask if you've ever tried dehancer? I've been using all my grades and there might be some stuff that you can take away from the program!
@Owlbot6 ай бұрын
Yeah I have a dehancer review on here (or at least on ProVideo Coalition). I like the looks you can get, however it's a very heavy plugin and slows me down quite a bit. Normally I use it by just developing the look and saving a LUT out of the app and using that since the rest of the stuff it does is relatively easy to replicate otherwise. I will say their grain emulation is excellent but that's one of the heavier parts of their plugin so it's hard to use for me til I get a better computer haha
@ant0ine_riou4 ай бұрын
nice break down, what about the pixeltools film you add in the grain nodes, you said it was free but can't find it, would you mind share a link of it please
@Owlbot4 ай бұрын
Pixeltools Film is not free, but the grain parameter it uses in its node tree is just the stock Resolve grain with the parameters moved around.

Nice video! You talked about a DCTL that could be an alternative to scatter. Would you mind sharing the source so I can check that out?

I can't seem to find the bulge settings for it to not be blacked out on the edges, any insight or where to find it? also very helpful and cool video. It's interesting to see all the different ways people find to effect the image in similar ways

Oh no it'll always be blacked out, I just zoomed in a bit in the sizing tab on that node

Way overkill imo. Just get an fpe or film stock emu at the end and correct white balance and exposure prior to that.
@Owlbot6 ай бұрын
I disagree, also that'd pigeonhole you, whereas this method lets you tweak everything. Doesn't have to be film emulation, I often just use it as my stock node tree.
