I've started on this build. I've raised a couple other barbs up, one thorns, the other dust devil. Yah, I think given what you said, save Grandfather for Dust Devil and use the pole arm version for flay. Tempers and Masterworking are the finest parts of build crafting. I think this is a great build if not the GOAT boss build. You cover so many things taken for granted that will help new players find this usable despite being a more technical build. I compare it to a firebolt or telestomp sorc in terms of technicality. Made it seem easy. Thanks.

Right after you use rupture it gets a gold border to indicate you are getting the attack speed bonus, then when it gets the gold border the second time, your wanton rupture mechanic is ready

Just in case people dont know, getting crowd control duration actually increase your challenging shout uptime since it taunts monsters longer. You need to test this in the wild. Nice build my man. I need to try the rally cry variation.

@@cliptis86 I just did switched and tried 120 to test the patch. Did not feel much of the damage I was taken but went might on pants, not heal. Rally is nice cus I went all rez on my gear and I am at 70% so no slot for speed on boots. So the speed is appreciated. I got sharpshooter at 120 and he killed me twice before I beat him: so I need to be more careful on bosses. Iron Skin makes boss fights easier that is for sure. Huge get-out-of-jail-free card. Might even be a dps loss on boss fights cus before I was able to face-tank them 90% of the time and now will have to run around and dodge stuff. I like it and I will stay like this. TY for the suggestion.

@Graldaddy yeah once you get your gear to a good place a lot of the mechanics you can tank with this set up as long as you manage shouts. That's what I've been practicing a lot. Thank you for trying it!

Another question: Have you considered the Berserk Ripping aspect into this build? I heard Aspect of Adaptability isn't contributing to the bleeding. Maybe a suitable replacement perhaps?

@@malediction9929 hey adaptability isn't working with Berserk ripping. Flays bleed damage doesn't come from Berserk ripping it comes from Flay itself. It's a much different way of applying bleed than the bash or WW barb.

Awesome video! I’m following your build to the exact spec and the damage is insane but I feel insanely squishy even with running might on the helm and undying on the pants with iron skin. Any tips to get even more tanky? When I was playing bash barb I felt way stronger than flay with worse gear and lower level (current lvl 98).

Flay is a different play style than Bash it's the tankiest but also the squishiest build. It's all about learning the rotation. I don't run iron skin and I can survive just fine in pits 140+ but I have to have my rotation and shouts on point. If you don't have any glyphs in that give Dr you can swap them in too. I run a Harlequins crest and might as well

I spent the last 2 days farming, found some great pieces for a Flay build. Only thing I’m missing is Harlequin Crest. I started this season with Rend and Rupture. Ditched it at level 70 for Bash, carried the rest of the way to 100. Now I just need to not brick the good pieces I’ve farmed for 😂

Yeah flay is a little bit of an investment the tempers are hard to hit. Sometimes but once your masterworking gets up there it gets fun. Don't wait on the perfect pieces of gear to masterwork either. Just start going. It helps a lot.

If we add 1 point in tough as nails. We have more cd from our armor when mobs attack us. This points we can take from shouts passives. And its work good.

Hey I talked about that in the video. I ran over that option. Since this build runs rage of Harragoth you get thorns from that and you get bleed from flay and rupture so it's not 100% necessary but it is a good option.

Hey! Flay doesn't run Berserk ripping to apply bleed. You can use bersek ripping for extra bleed but it doesn't effect the build at all. It's only for bash bleed and WW bleed

Oh i know, maybe because I'm running 3 different barbs: WW, Bash& This Flay setup and have been playing them all. A very common aspect of guides this season is to act like the builds are everything even with shit gear, you hear it all the time. IMO it sets you up to have a bad initial experience, rather than build to a goal.

How do you get critical strike damage as a temper on a bludgeoning weapon? I don't see it in my tempers, have I just not found it yet...? EDIT: Thankfully I have a rogue, i didn't even know you could use other characters tempers on items. Thank you for the guide!

Hey you'll need a Rogue to get the temper. I was level 61 when I found it on the rogue. You'll use the rogue to do the tempers.

can you explain more about damage while berserking (should be 300 %) also why the value of crit to vulnerable dmg should be 2/1 I could not temper more than 296% damage while berserking even with masterwork 12 and crit to vulnerable damage is 1/2 because I have tempered only vulnerable damage thanks a lot

Damage while berserking is for your blood rage node. You don't need 300% exactly that's just max for the legendary node. If you have no crit damage gushing wounds doesn't do much.

Hey if you put on rapid and check your attack speed it isn't quite 60% I'll try it when I'm home from work later but I think rapid in the ring was something like 17% to the stat line that shows atk speed

I bricked enough weapons trying to get flay duration I could build a house. I swapped berserk ripping to mace and moonrise to 1h sword. Rawr.

I swapped out 2 aspects and put in the dust devils for 100 fury generated and when shouts are cast - i see these as free damage as we are always generating fury and we are always casting shouts, with 3 shouts that's some damage kicking out - yet to test it pushing the pit but all those dust devils seems more powerful with no effort and not really missing the other aspects

Hey Clip, question for you: Flay pants are super hard to find, and very expensive. What are your thoughts on getting a GA Basic Skills pair of pants and masterworking those instead? From what I can tell testing on a character builder, it looks like MW those to 12 can get you to +7 Flay, vs +8 on a GA Flay pair. Is the one level going to hurt that bad, or is this a decent alternative for people without billions of gold?

Hey big thanks for your work and putting up this great guide! So i didnt tryed flay on the new Patch today, but i had big problems with aoe in pits over 120, with nearly max masterworked gear. Any solutions for this, to spread the bleed in a better way maybe? One more big Problem with this build: if you are playing with Barb friends, also using rupture without wanton aspect, they are deleting our bleed ticks and doing our damage. We testet it on the dummy bc something felt of in the pits. My bash friends doing barbillions of damage with his rupture. This is a big bumper for me. The Plus is you could possible rotate rupture with with multiple wanton rupture barbs doing huge damage. But we didnt testet if rupture uses every bleed on the target combined. Any toughts on this?

Hey! I'm the 129 we pushed last night with two barbs I was the only one with rupture. It definitely is a big issue removing the bleed so like you said a rotation would help. For trash in 120 I didn't have much issues just spamming rupture but I was solo. If you test more let me know. I did run a couple boss fights with two flay barbs and we only used rupture when wanton was up and it melted. It was insane.

@Cliptis, can you please specify how much for ideal gear crit damage vs vulnarable damage to have? Or in how many items must I temper (with a rogue) or have/roll crit damage. In new season will it affect the ratio or not? you said that berserking damage we have to get 300%. Rob said that in new season, it is enouph to have only 350% vulnarable damage. Not clear if it affects this flay build. exactly the difference between them not clear.

I dont understand this build yet, I master worked 3 of my items to 12, then the rest to 8. I have GG items all +1 GA sometimes 2 GA. And it's slow af in pits. I can barely clear pits 85 in about 4-5 min. Could you please type here the rotation of skills? I am not sure what I am missing here. With my WW bleed barb i will clear with just 4 uber uniques in about 2 min pits 100+

Hey! Flay takes awhile to learn. There isn't a rotation you need to manage shouts and get your masterworking to 12. The build is not a speed farming build it's a Pit pushing build. WW is speed, this is damage. I covered it in the video, when I started Flay I masterworked to 8/12 on all my gear and went into the Pits and died. Then died again, so I finished everything to 12, spent time learning when and how to pull and it got much better. I'm not into the 140s but this is a pushing build that takes practice and 12/12

Awesome guide.. your video was so good .. i went out respeced.. :) I tried it. Masterworking even non GA items to 8/12.. Found it too slow compared to the Tyrael DW Bash setup. Also csnt really facetank or kill elite packs fast enough. :) i may switch off Rally cry for Iron Skin. Anyways on 122 using DW bash. I was struggling with 101. Felt too quishy. My Chc on Flay build was 60% Crit dmg 1500 Vul was 500

Hey! Flay is a little slow on trash especially at 8/12. When I first switched I went straight to 8, tried the build and almost scaped it haha once I got to 10s and 12s, I learned the rotation I started to enjoy it a lot more. Iron skin is a good option. I tested both and didn't enjoy iron skin as much. I run iron skin on my other barb. I have a bash barb and a flay barb they are completely different. I love bash but flay is growing in me the more I play.

The website bugs out a lot and let's me spend 226 points and only says 225 so I left it short just in case. You can put it anywhere. Everything should be unlocked. You can go with life % or vul in your starter board. It's up to you

I want to switch to 1 build - is the one I should go for since I want to do uber boss runs, speed farm Pit tier 101 and be able to kill Lilith?

This one definitely can do it all but learning flay takes some practice. Speed farming isn't as fast as WW but my movement speed also isn't great on my flay barb. So you might be able to do it faster than me. My 101s are about 2 minutes

Hey! Attack power is a useless stat unfortunately. +damage just additive damage that is less than any other additive damage. Both crit damage and vulnerable damage multiply your damage not just add to it. I covered it in the video when I went over gushing wounds at the end of the skills and the hemorrhage legendary node in the paragon board.

All of the best tempers for the build are from the rogue unfortunately. The build is a bit of an investment but lots of rewards to it. I got the temper at level 61. Took me about an hour and a half.

I’m following robs build and flay was a hard learning process. I have all my masterwork to 8 and weapons to 12. I don’t understand why it’s so squishy. If I don’t have iron skin popped I’m dead. How does taking off iron skin and adding a shout make you not die?

Hey! Going from 8 to 12 on your armor for masterworking is a really big boost in survivability. You'll gain minimum 15% more HP, 15% more strength which = more armor. With my build I run raid leader and undying. So I heal for 2% every cast and 3% every second so the 15% more life you'll gain on all pieces of armor going from 8 to 12 is really big. I don't know what Robs build looks like but I run offensive and defensive glyphs. But masterworking is super important. I talk about it in depths in the video and I've havr everyone in Discord on the masterwork to 12 train.

This is my dilemma. I could easily up my armor from 8 to 12 but I just don’t see it making a night and day difference.

Without it your bleed is removed by rupture so you can't stack bleed damage. The longer you can stack it, the more it does. Plus the more bleed you have the harder rupture hits for

Hey! The additive damage doesn't cap, the multiplicative does in your paragon board. You can put way more value into other stats by stopping at 300

They are very similar but in the tempers I changed some things, I moved the paragon board around slightly. It was very minor changes that had a big impact.

Is it actually at 224? The website was bugged and was letting me put in 226 points but telling me it was 225 so I left it one short. If that's the case you can go into life if you're feeling squishy, or exploit for more vulnerable or wrath for more crit damage.

Hey! It's a tough build to get started. It really helps getting everything masterworked to level 12. Even if it's not GA or perfect tempers. It's what I did. I ran for a week with 3 pieces with 0 GA and my bricked boots but I leveled them to 12.

Hey what makes polearms so good is that it's strange multiplicative damage. So it effects weapon damage, bleed, rupture all of it. So you gain 15% from using polearma and 10% from executioner.
