I ran a one shot for Candela last weekend and while I had my doubts about it because this group is not really into the whole character playing aspect to TTRPGs “my character will fire their bow at the goblin” sort of responses. Honestly though, it went really well. The pace of play is much faster, the story is more cinematic and that format actually drew this group into their characters and suddenly, they were role playing, not just knowing mechanics. I’ll be joining another group as a player next week and I am really looking forward to it. It won’t be taking over DnD at my table, but it is a lot of fun and I’ll definitely be incorporating it into my rotation.
