Do these hotels have Lifts / escalators or are they wheelchair friendly ?
@BarnaliBiswasBB3 ай бұрын
@@nithyarc hello, i will mention hotelwise: 1. Gakyil - they have lifts and entrance is also not on elevated area so wheelchairs should be able to navigate 2. Dhumra - all its rooms are on ground floor so inside the property no issues. But to enter the gate of the resort as you would have seen there are a few flight of stairs and also there is no seperate wheelchair accessible ramp apparently. But you can check with the property owners directly if there is any way a wheelchair accessible option can be enabled. 3. Olathang - we stayed in the cottages wherein again u need to go down a few steps to reach. However inside the main building also there are some rooms available. I had not explored that area but you can check with the hotel if they have a lift facility inside. Since its a heritage property so chances are less for a lift but nonetheless check once with the property. Hope this helps.

Can you also suggest on safety for women trips ? And will a guide travel all along ?
@BarnaliBiswasBB3 ай бұрын
@@nithyarc Bhutan has made it mandatory to have a guide accompany the tourists at all time. This happened after an unfortunate event at Chelela pass wherein some rouge tourists danced on top of the stupas. So now its 100% mandated. You can get both male or female guides, however male guides are more common. There is absolutely no safety concerns even if you are travelling with a male guide and a male driver even if you are an all girls group. These guides are all registered guides and they will always carry their ID cards, as a mandate. Lots of female only groups are there and there is no issues. I travelled with my mom, only two of us, initially I also had same question but my tour agent assured me there is no reason of any concern and he was correct. If you are visiting Bhutan first time, I would suggest you book it via any local tour agency like I did and they will ensure everything is taken care. You need to tell them about any specific preferences in terms of rooms as you will have senior citizen. If your parents are not having any mobility issues then even without lift they will be able to go up one or two flight of stairs. Just carry a walking stick as in Bhutan you will be climbing a lot of stairs at time when getting into any Dzong or Monastry.
