Nadav Look for “the spice vendor” in the encyclopedia, always a female Aserai in the various playthroughs I’ve started. You’ll probably have to start a new game however. The companion list was bugged for quite some time and only Sturgian and Battanian companions were spawning. I haven’t seen any other trader-types.

To my knowledge, Tactics is how well you auto-resolve battles, which is 100% of all battles that you aren't fighting. As such, I think it's worth having companions with high tactics skill as the other party leaders, so they don't lose as many men while travelling around the map.

tactics influence how many troops each opponents has on the field if they start with same number of troops. so with higher tactics if your dont fight someone with way more troops than you, you should have more troops on the field which give u better winning chances

You've missed a couple of types out. Like the Engineer type (Wainwright, Scholar, Engineer) and the Trader/Steward type (Swift, Spicetrader and so on). The later is surprisingly useful and balanced all around, especially the Swift - one of the most expensive ones due to the high-tier sabers they wield but defintely worth it - not only are they well skilled for running caravans but they also have decent roguery skills and good base skillsto be trained into mounted archers.

I feel like the OPPOSITE is true about the "rogue" companions! They are GREAT early game, to help you raid cities faster meaning you are making money faster, and help you with charming others(not sure if they actually do this or not and not sure how they would since you are the one speaking to people NOT your companions). Later in the game you will have made plenty of money and will have gotten better skills so you won't need these guys as much!

There is actually code for companions that is not used in the game so in the future this distinction might be real. Plus the wanderer were there at the start. They just didn't spawned for whatever bug there was. So you can keep in mind that they "added" more wanderers type to recruits. It's the same result in the end. They were there but didn't spawned because of a bug or they added them.

Got one scholar with a 120 medicine base stat. Then found another scholar with no medicine base stat he had 60 engineering instead. Found a wanderer with 140 scout, and another with only 40 scout. So, I'm not too convinced a lot of titles are concrete for what skills they have or levels of skills they have.

in my campagin i had three black girls and made them melee beasts, always togather back to back with massive axes i called them sisters of the black water order and dedicated a group nummber for them to summon them when things goes south. enjoying the little roleplay a bit too much though XD

You can also look them up in the Character list and it will tell you exactly where they are at unlike Warband. They may remove this ease of access upon full release but currently you can track which companions you want and even see their skills as well as their Culture as you pointed out. It makes it easier to select your new companion as you can make a save and track, let's say the available healers/willowbarks and hire 1 and then check their Stats as well as skills, 1INT and 60 Healing isn't as valuable as 4INT and 60 Healing...if they aren't satisfying simply reload your save and check the next one on the list.

But usually by the time you got to the city they had left 😢 however Warband's Companions where static and never died or left the game. Now with that possibility in Bannerlord perhaps they won't remove it for that reasoning as they can potentially cycle different companions throughout your gameplay 🤔

@@zzirSnipzz1 when you travel to locations Companions can and do travel as well. So if you are traveling across the map more than likely he moved while you where. Always pause and check the encyclopedia along your journey to see if and when they moved.

For anyone wondering yes this may be out of date on new saves but people are still playing their day 1 saves and some patches dont change or fix their save if they started it before the patch. eg: snowballing i had an old save with the latest patch and fix but the dominant faction was still taking over the world and taking nobles from other factions into their own. So if you like some of these patch changes with nerfs and buffs id recommend starting a new save

whether you have a healer or not doesnt change anything unless you give them the ''surgeon'' role in the clan, or scout role etc. And even then it is not worthwile to do it, cause if you do not give them these roles, you will level up these skills by yourself which is much more useful.

They are good for sticking in owned settlements, they heal up your garrison. They also heal their parties pretty quick and stop them from getting weak and taken by bandits. My understanding is that the clan roles are pretty bugged anyways so, yeah. Just leave everyone on none.

Another one is the Swift and the Spicevendor, you can hire them and let them lead the caravan because they have pretty good trade skill and you don't really need to invest any equipments in them.

Prices and stats seems random now. Pretty much gotta go through the whole wanderer list, if you wanna min-max. I don't mean to be negative, but I doubt tactics or roguery does much good in the game's current state. Only use I found for tacticians is some quests. I'm not sure that rogues or tacticians do anything, since with the other skills you have to assign roles to the heroes, to make their skill affect the party.

For companion: What I found is that tactic skill is good if they lead an army/party, they had a better outcome to escape if they get attack or had less troops. As for rogue skill, they will keep raiding villages during war or to start a war in time of peace.

Rogue also come in handy for a quest that require a shady type of companion to handle with some troops, when we too lazy or too busy to handle. For example gang related quest or killing of bandits when they attacking villages.

I'm hoping that the tactician skill makes them win more battles :) When it comes to the rogue skill, I'm sure it works for a couple of quests, but I'm not gonna keep a specialized rogue around just for that. Hopefully they will come up with some more stuff that it's useful for.

@@avienated What I found the best companion that can lv up leadership as well if they got beside tactic skill is with the last name Ironbelly, I think. Cause I rarely get Swordsman. Also Shieldmaiden will not lv up leadership skill when they lead army/party. Only Ironbelly does 2 of them when I had them.

Anyone who reads this please keep in mind that that if a companion has the mercy trait or dosent have it they will get pissed about you raiding villages and decrease your influence in your clan because they hate fun. So try to get a companion with the cruel trait.

I hope Taleworlds decide to create a wider variety of companions. Right now there are only warriors, scouts, tacticians, healers, and rogues. There's a handful of skills that are left untouched- for example you don't have companions with stewardship or smithing yet afaik.

i dont understand what the special skills (apart from the combat ones that is personal to the companion) give you as shareable. for instance i rogue companion help you with what? you get more for selling prisoners just by having him in your party, or the battle loot is better as it is written in the rogure skill information? does the roguery adds up to the total skill so you have a better percentage.

I believe that isn't implemented yet. I don't think NPCs nor the player character get skill points in trade from caravans and from the forums and what not, it doesn't seem to affect it.

I think Tactician and Rogue are useless. They are good only for auto solving some quests, if there ane any that require this skills. But in order to use companion skills for yourself you should assign them to specific clan role. There is none for these two types. Instead of them you should assign your noble spouse as Quartermaster (Steward skill), and find or train engineer. But about scout and healer you are right. And the last needed companion could be your smith.

Clan role is bugged and doesn't full work right, for instance a medic companion can't do anything for your party if they aren't in your party. Clan roles are meant for the later game role specific bonuses from perks. Also, rogues that have their own parties get more prisoners and sell them, generating you denars. They also raid villages faster and for more loot, generating you denars. And they get more loot and sell it, generating you denars. The only down side is that their parties are usually pretty weak so it depends on play style and preference.

Also, leaving everyone to have no clan role means you take over everything, netting you lots of skill points and quicker level ups in the early game.

@@brandonweber2133 everything is bugged right now, but it is only realistic that healer can't heal your troops from the other edge of the map. I am pretty sceptical about companion parties. Every time I make a regular party or a caravan they get captured once a war begins, and then you need to retrieve them from random tavern. While my noble spouse didn't get their party defeated even single time for a few game years now. And workshops are much better and stable in generating denars. Clan roles are specifically made for the skill level usage, perks are secondary and most are irrelevant. Medicine tree don't even have a single perk than is made for surgeon, but rather any party member or only clan leader. But if you click "i" - button, you will see that healing percentages applied only from surgeon (or party leader if you don't have a surgeon). And this is true only for intelligence skills and scouting, everything else you should max on your main character.

I would try to give you more advice on that but in the current state of things, everybody gets totally different results. The only thing I've seen that people have decided on is that if one companion sucks at it try another. Also, if you want to keep making them into parties, you don't have to go pick them up. Just open your clan window and make a new party.

Charm and social seems to be toughest for me to find. Isnt social (trade) important for a companion whose running caravan. I havent made a caravan cuz i cant find one so i dunno if it even matters for caravan drivers to have a skill. Halp!

dont use healer or scout or actualy any companions for the clan roles, or you will not gain exp in the skills (healing, tactic, rougery, scouting) only use them if you need those skills for some reason or if you dont care about slowing your leveling up process

There is a cap and you will not gain exp in this skill eventually, if you didn't put focus points in it. With each level it is harder and harder to get focus points, you shouldn't spend them on skills that you can easily get from your companions. All charisma skills, Tactics and Roguery you should train on your main character, because companions can't share these skills, but Scouting, and all intelligence skills you should train on others. That is if you truly want to maximise your potential with each level.

Rogues in their own parties get more prisoners and loot to random and sell but aren't good for fighting other Lord's. Medics stuck in cities or town do actually heal your garrison and (possibly) militia faster. Tactician parties are great during wars because they level their troops faster and are better at fighting other parties but they're more expensive. There are ups and downs for everyone. The trade skill on companions is not currently functional so sticking a trade focused companions to a caravan does not affect anything. It's not a big, it's intentionally left out for the time being because trade in bannerlord is all over the place.

Prices for companions seem very inconsistent. Sometimes I can get really great ones for like 1k and other times really bad ones for 3k+. I've seen a lot of the same companion (same surname) in different saves that have vastly different prices.

I have issues finding companions with points in intelligence so for example my healers don't get any better better. Same with cunning. Might get a tactician with 60 tactics but he won't level it up further. Very rarely get the option of picking a companions attributes either. Am I missing anything?

Levelling up companions in other parties seems to be bugged at the moment. It says they need to be in your party, but when you take them back into party their available focus points disappear.

Dunkurtin is correct. Also, recent updates may have added in new intelligence based companions so you might have to wait a while for new companions to show up (I believe every 100 days new potential companions arrive, unsure though) or start a new game.

Is there a difference between having your companions in your own army or in separate parties? Can you use their skills either way?

Many skills are role specific. Party leader for their party, Captain for the formation they have assigned in army, Governor for the settlement they are governing (if a settlement doesn't have a governor, the player is the governor while waiting at the settlement). A companion in party can take a party role (engineer, scout, quartermaster, medic) and also a capable unit that can get retrieved if captured

Guys, is it worth it to buy Bannerlord at this time? Just can't decide what to do, played Warband before and it got me interested, but it was short like 40 hours or so.

Game is fun, there's just not much in it right now. Considering you put 40 hours into warband, you probably won't be playing bannerlord for the development of the game so I'd just wait.
