Awesome and informative video! 😊 My first guinea pig cage was the Full Cheeks Customizable cage and has a way to expand thankfully. I had to cut a doorway on the one side, but the other side had an optional door. I ended up expanding that way first before cutting the hole in the other side. It is only 8 square feet, so when I got my 3rd pig, I expanded using wire shelves and a waterproof washing machine/fridge pan. This was before I explored the world of C&C grids.

Great video! I had a Midwest and loved it- I used the tarp on the outside and it made it more stable. I then used coroplast with it and it worked well. I then graduated to a CxC and went to a 2.3.5 and yeah, I am not one to cut coroplast and get my coroplast from guinea pig cage company and what I do, is buy the colors on sale and it’s cheaper and I got mine $15 each. Took advantage and yes, this way if I need to add more sq. footage, it’s not overwhelming of a job. I upgraded to a 2x4, but I am wanting to go bigger as my two werewolf skinnies love a loft. I put on and I don’t always have it on. Another reason to go with the grids. I can be creative and again I could get grids of different sizes and another source is eBay and I do have my girls home up on a Walmart 6ft. One thing, to remember sometimes with connectors, the cage doesn’t fit. I found that out. Thanks for the idea with the making your own table! In the future, I will use that idea when I get future piggies. No need to seek any cage, even if it’s the size o- k from a pet store as it supports selling small animals. So many better options from Amazon, even from other stores, tractor supply, and so agreed, no tanks- my poor Harriet was a Petco piggie and in a tank. She, unfortunately will always have skin issues because of her tank. I have learned so much from the community and so glad you did this one as I wish I knew when I got my Harriet. I may have done it backwards, but I grew thanks to learning from channels like yours!

I made a stand for our cage by using 2 cube organizer shelves from target and 3 shelf boards from home depot. No skills necessary and cube storage on both ends.

We have a DIY cage and the floor is made up of solid grids. Not the ones with holes. We dont have chloroplast and the only thing that sucks is wiping the walls down and cleaning up the poop that falls outta the cage lol

So I am in a bit of a pickle although I do not have any Guinea pig rescues near me I have a pet o and I do not support them. I have done research on them and have saved up to get a 3x5 c&c cage. I like to think about it like I’m helping the poor things from being bought and kept in a tiny cage dose any one have advice or something I should do different?

They don’t smell as long as you spot clean every days and wash all the bedding twice a week 😁

Spot cleaning every day, changing bath mats as needed and fully cleaning once a week!
