For my older kids I choose books I want to discuss with them!!! As it’s my older kids listening I include my older kids and I can hear them reading!!! We did Narnia and we included my youngest daughter in it even though at 5 she’s not ready to read it!!! we started with my youngest just doing picture books and now she joins in on other books as long as they are appropriate for her age!!!

How often do you stop while reading what what things do you stop for discussion? What would you do if a child gets easily annoyed by stopping to explain and discuss? I worry my kids will never build the stamina to stop and think deeper or get over any type of boredom. Thank you for the video

Great question. One great tip that might help depending on the age of the kids is giving them each something to write on and having them write any questions that come up during the reading and then you can discuss at the end.

For read aloud….two of his subjects have lit. Books with them so we switch off. He reads one to me and I read the other one to him.
