Amazing video. Would you be able to rank the top four Marriott properties for the value please?
@PointsPassportАй бұрын
thanks! I've been to 5 of the 7 Marriott Maldives properties. We're planning to do a comparison video in the future. I haven't been to the Ritz Carlton Maldives, which is suppose to be spectacular. Each one ranks differently for different categories, so I'll just do it overall 1. St Regis Maldives & Ritz Carlton Maldives (tie) 2. W Maldives (new renovation in 2025) 3. JW Marriott Maldives 4. Westin Maldives & Le Meridien Maldives (tie) 5. Sheraton Maldives

If you book with points, can you upgrade to full board on food with cash?

If the night rate is 60k, and I have free night awards up to 50k, can i still book this by just using bonvoy points to cover the difference?
@PointsPassport4 ай бұрын
yep, if you have an FNA cert (Free Night Award) you can top it off with an additional 15K Bonvoy points. I usually do this with the Bonvoy Business's 35K FNA (to max it out at 50K), and the Bonvoy Brilliant's 85K FNA (to max it out at 100K)

Points will guarantee you free room but what about food?? How expensive is this?
@PointsPassport5 ай бұрын
the food in the Maldives definitely adds up, since everything has to be imported from neighbor countries and then distributed to each resort islands. the logistics are really interesting. anyway, my perspective on the Maldives is that you book it on points so you can spend the money on food. if you have Marriott Platinum elite status (which you can get automatically from the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card), you'll get free breakfast. those breakfast spreads are insane and go until about 10:30, so you can easily make it to dinner to help keep the cost down. the other option is to pay for full or half board, which after trying both approaches on two different trips, I'd highly recommend
