I don't think I could fit a internal card under the 4090. I thought elgato was gold standard.

It's not, El Gato is not the best brand though it is the widest known, marketing does it's this, this is not the best either, the best in its class maybe but have you watched this video? This is the Avermedia niche though, for media kind of stuff, they are #1, are you looking for a capture card?

As to your previous question, the record screen app, not only takes away resources from the machine, some don't have additional resources to provide. Lower end PC's with 8Gigs of RAM and little to no storage, some even more powerfull, still have few resources, because your games and such need those resources too. Your motherboard has 2 M.2 slots used up, thats 8 PCIE lanes used for Storage, the 8 or 16 used by the graphics card, some don't have that many resources. Externally, like in this card and better devices can also record in the BIOS and during OS install, even consoles, VCR's, DVD players, bluray players, etc, but I go over all of this in the video.
