Acclimatisation: Two nights in Manang are not needed if you stay overnight either in Ghyaru of Ngawal before Manang, as those villages are both already 100-200 m higher than Manang. One more good reason to walk the high trail instead of the valley floor road.

Shoes: I have hiked the AC 4 times (including Tilicho crossing to Samagaon) in joggers or later trail runners. Heavy boots not needed, it is trails all the way.

Which month did you trek? Personally, I think traversing ice is not easy in trail runners
@karipintakivi91532 жыл бұрын
@@IntrepidRoad 3 Thorong La crossings were all in October, there is no ice on the trails usually, never seen any except in patches, and boots have even less grip on ice than trail runners. If there is ice it is packed snow on trail, then you can just walk the snow on the side for traction. There are no drop-offs on that route. Tilicho crossing was in end of March. No ice at all, some snow west side of "Tourist Pass".

Trekking to Jomsom via Mesokantha sounds interesting. Hoping to tick that box one day. If you're looking for grippy boots, check out La Sportiva TX5s, they are amazing
@karipintakivi91532 жыл бұрын
@@IntrepidRoad We did not cross Mesokanto La but the so called "Tourist Pass" which is about 1.5 km North-East of Mesokanto La. It is slightly higher but not as steep on the west side, thus less snow than at Mesokanto. The trail for there goes along the north side of the valley leading to Thini and there is one open yak herder hut along the way. We camped only one night about 1.5 hours before the pass and hiked to Thini next day. Masokanto route goest along the south side.

Very useful video.. Feeling so much more confident now as I hope to board my flight from Mumbai to Katmandu on 1st May'21. I say 'hope' coz we're in a lockdown and flights getting canceled left right and center. Really wanna do this ! 🤞

@@sunnysmails That's awesome dude! How'd you go over Thorang La and were there any Covid restrictions in place when you got to Nepal?
@sunnysmails3 жыл бұрын
@@IntrepidRoad It was amazing.. Nepal had restrictions right from Katmandu but as soon as you reach Besisahar things get better. Although I cudn't witness the buzz of Pokhra and Katmandu I'm glad I cud finish the trek.

My trek organiser (Himalayan Wonders) arranged a vehicle for me that had an 'essential travel permit' so I could move around.

Hey.. Thanks !! This is really informative. Could you please share the route/ side routes you chose? 😊

Hi Prasad, we walked from Besisahar to Nayapul, sticking to the NATT trails (link below). The only side trek we did was Tilicho Lake, which we'd highly recommend.
@@IntrepidRoad Thanks you so much man.. 🙌 Really appreciate it. I hope this NATT trail has not lost the charm with the new roads being built there.

@@prasadpant6115 You should expect to share the road with cars, at least for some of your journey. However, after Kagbeni, the track will get much quieter and it is very easy to stay off the road. Best of luck!!

Hey.. How long did it take you total? And.. The interwebs says the TIMS counter is open 7days a week 10-5.. How come you say different opening hours?
@IntrepidRoad5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching our video! You’re right, the TIMS office is open on weekends, thanks for pointing that out. FYI, The Nepal Tourism Board is notorious for closing on public holidays so watch out for that. We did the circuit in 21 days (incl. Tilicho Lake), and we took 7 rest days. I'd say only 2-3 of those rest days were necessary. Best of luck trekking!

Trekking is one of the things I’d like to do, but it also is very dangerous. Be careful!
