Love the keto diet and sardines! How did you eat them? Bowl, or eat of the can? How did you handle the mess and leftover cans? I want to do trails with bears and love sardines but worried about how to protect used cans from attracting bears.
@IntrepidRoad11 ай бұрын
IIRC these sardines came in resealable plastic zip locks. Not ideal for longer hikes but okay for a few days on the trail. I'm not bear-aware sorry but I would imagine sardines would not be an ideal choice in bear country

Ketosis is protein sparing, requiring less protein for hypertrophy

I did 2 mountains 4000 - 5000 ft in elevation in adirondacks with just keto and water. I did not switch to carbs at any point. I did take a couple exogenous ketone salt supplements, which dried me out way too much. I was dragging badly. Very hard time getting back to camp. After we were done and back to camp, i took my blood sugar back at camp and it was in the 50s, which is getting dangerous. I took some sugar to get it back up at that point. I have done keto for several years before it became popular and well known. I did not expect this result. I will use some carb snacks next time and carb load 24 hrs in advance, but keto coffee in the am for mcts

@IntrepidRoad2 жыл бұрын
You'd expect to receive more rain than our March traverse but sometimes it's just luck of the draw. You might have perfectly clear days or snow. If you're comfortable with scrambling in the wet and have all the right gear I'd give it a crack

Hi Sally, thanks for watching! The closest I come to strict keto these days is when I occasionally do a prolonged fast (36-60hrs). I used to feel great on keto although my stomach never truly adapted to the high fats, so I started incorporating fruits into my diet (and beer too😉). Are you planning on hiking in ketosis?
@sallycampbell82212 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is my plan. I tested it out with a 56hr fast with a 5hr, 21km walk on the 3rd day. I was surprised how well I felt. I was careful to keep the heart rate down and was well hydrated

if a bushwalker falls off a track and they aren't being filmed for youtube - do they make a sound?
@IntrepidRoad2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question! I would love to run this experiment on my next hike but since I wouldn't be filming I would have no way to prove my findings. Furthermore, if a KZbinr is not being filmed while bushwalking it's highly unlikely to be a KZbinr and is probably just a regular bushwalker. Is this a trick question? 😉

@@IntrepidRoad try it anyway - I'll take your word. second point - youtubers don't have to youtube all the time. '-)
