The Vortex one is made by a company called FIRSTINFO. They make a identical model with a 10-90 inch pound scale that comes with the T-handle. It’s my go to.

Wow, right now on Amazon if you add the FIRSTINFO one, and then there is a promotion to add a contour gauge for free. Go to your cart and there is a coupon you can clip. The total price for the torque wrench AND the contour gauge WITH tax was only 77. I'm not sure how that worked, but it did.

After searching and watching NUMEROUS videos, this is the ONLY one that described how to set a very specific setting. The Vortex is basically the exact same as the Nightforce brand which I have. I have never needed a torque screwdriver therefore never knew how to set the correct setting/limiter. Nightforce did not include directions on how to adjust it or what the numbers on the handle represent. For a price tag of $275 for their kit, they should have included instructions. This sort of information should NOT be this difficult to find so THANK YOU for your time and instructions! Great video.

One of my rifle lights finger pad has a torque setting of 8 so the CDI seems like the better option. The other settings range in the 20's. I can probably get an individual fix it stick torque limiter for over 40 in/lb

I know the Real Avid doesn't have a certification but I've seen it put to the test and even after 1,000 cycles it was one of the most accurate when tested on a calibrator. P.S. on that same video, many of the certified torque wrenches were no where near as accurate as the Real Avid.

I have always been a big fan of Proto. The Proto J6104A 1/4" Drive Torque Screwdriver is what I use for my guns and it is superb for what we do. Proto is USA made and it is not a cheap tool. I think I paid ~$350 for it but considering what some of us blow on reloading presses, scales, and annealers, it is comparatively inexpensive. It is the only one I ever need because it is well built, awesome warranty, and is easily calibrated. No space shuttles, no space stations, and no lander on mars, just a positive click that you can trust. It wouldn't surprise me if JPL doesn't have its share of Proto torque systems though😁.

I looked it up and seems nice but it doesn't look like it goes high enough for my needs. I need something that can go up to at least 60in/lbs but as low at 10 in/lbs. But I'm glad you're happy with yours and thank you for sharing.

Just my opinion. But I would trust the torque wrenches from auto industry tool makers over all of these. Most of those that are high quality are certified and are serviceable to recertification. These are definitely a "you get what you pay for tool."

I bought a Real Avid, but after getting it and trying it out, I can't trust it. It's lowest setting is supposed to be 10, but the lowest setting on the handle goes down to 6. Is 6 the real zero at 10 in lbs or do you have to turn the handle to the actual 0 number to represent 10 in lbs? Instructions do not say and I can't get an answer back from Real Avid. I don't trust it and I won't take the chance of over-torquing my scope rings. I returned it. Instead, I bought a digital FAT wrench. Highly accurate. I love it.

I have the real avid. The fat wrench was tested against the real avid and the real avid was more accurate and consistent. Wrong choice.

@marka980 9 ай бұрын
I went with my gut since I got zero response back from Real Avid customer service. I couldn't find anything online about what the actual 0 was. Maybe the one I got was off in its calibration, but I had no way of testing it myself. Keeping it was not worth ruining a $700 scope and the Fat Wrench I did use, worked just fine. Don't get me wrong, I also went with the majority vote by getting the Real Avid 1st, but a torque wrench is never supposed to bottom out lower than its lowest value, and the Real Avid I got, did.
