Hey charity sorry for the wait, thought i reply.. i have a few information on how we did this on this trip we arrived at Hakone at night from Kyoto and did the day trip the following day. However if you are based in tokyo - you can also do the exact route option that we took (starting from the shrine down the bottom -> Pirate ship -> cable car towards owakudani mountain then back down towards Gora) now generally from Tokyo there is a couple of options which includes Shinkansen, The Romance Car and normal train - it depends where you are situated in tokyo - If you were staying at Shinjuku you can take the 5am on the dot (Yamanote Line) towards Shinagawa Station where you switch to the Tokaido Line towards Odawara Station) at Odawara you then would have around 8 minutes time to get to the bus stop (so you can stock up on food / or buy your hakone free pass asap there should you need too) - one of the earliest bus from odawara station towards the shrine is around 6:50am (you arrive at odawara around 6:42am - generally japan train are on time so this should be quite precise) The Bus Terminal is Southeast of Odawara station - take the bus and arrive at Motohakone bus stop/next to jinja iriguchi stop (on this video) - from there on walk around 5 minutes towards the shrine by the lake.. If everything checks out you should arrive at the shrine around 8am which is exactly when i was there on this video - at that point of time there was only 3 groups other than us at the shrine, so snap happy :) Now overall if you do exactly our itinerary from here on (take the earliest pirate ship at 10am) - you should be able to do a full circle down to gora by around 2pm like on this video we only did a half a day because we had to catch our next train towards nagano for our snow monkey episode - but essentially you could stay longer if you wanted - from my understanding even around 9pm there are transportation operating back towards Tokyo - since generally its around 2 hour trip to hakone one way. So if after 2pm you wanted to go to the hakone open air museum or Yunessun for the hotspring theme park you can :) hope this helps

Hi, very beautiful video! Hakone looks like an amazing place. I wonder if the big lines are for regular weekdays or if it is just for weekends or holidays. It was a regular weekday when you guys went there?
@nickandhelmi5 жыл бұрын
yes actually this was regular weekdays :D - it gets worse over the weekend with more crowds. - our best advice is to get there really early. - We stayed the night before to do our full day trip from the morning - technically if you follow everything on this video, you should be able to finish all the loop by 12pm. on this trip we arrived at Hakone at night from Kyoto and did the day trip the following day. @@nickandhelmi thanks for your answer. How were the lines in the ropeway? My wife and I are going to Japan in november, we are planning to visit Hakone for a day trip from Tokyo on a weekday, hope we don't get too much lines. hahaha Your video and answer helped us a lot in making our itinerary, thanks!

Johnny M. Almeida most tourist will always end up in gora and they will do the other route (aka taking the tram up then ropeway towards owakudani) as they dont like taking the buses. But i think doing the reverse route that we did here reduces congestion of queues. If you see at the end of the video gora station queue to go up to owakudani was massive and that was 1.30pm So my suggestion is taking the hakone shrine route first via bus first because it is by far the must have picture of your trip to hakone :) - we stayed overnight in this video as a precaution because we have to get that no tourist shot at the hakone shrine hehe And we went around december as well so was pretty cold - not sure how cold november will be but pack them jackets 😎
@ehrelativo5 жыл бұрын
@@nickandhelmi yeah, we're planning to take the reverse route, also because it looks like you get better views of Mt. Fuji in the morning. Can I ask you another question? Have you ever bought a camera in Japan? Do you think it is worth it?
@nickandhelmi5 жыл бұрын
Johnny M. Almeida you’ll have to do your research ive never bought one as friends have said it can be more expensive and sometime more economical to buy at your home country and claim the tax refund at the airport

Great video! Thanks for sharing! I will be taking my family to Japan this November (First 2 weeks of Nov) and I was just wondering how cold it will be during those period? Also, we're only planning a day trip and would like to follow your guide by starting off with visiting the torii/shrine first. How do we get there from Shinjuku? Is the pier far from the shrine? Thank you so much Nick and Helmi! :D

I think november can be cold too - i would say bring a jacket for sure - but best to see weather forecast a few day before. Hopefully you enjoy your trip But if you really want to follow the timing of this video but not staying overnight then you can do this on this trip we arrived at Hakone at night from Kyoto and did the day trip the following day. @nickandhelmi5 жыл бұрын
Laila Posadas i hope you enjoy 😉 your trip in december! Pack some warm jackets! In regards to the bus stop they do have English translation, inside the bus they also have LED screens to show you - your next stop “though i cannot be certain if they do have it in English” - but i would assume being a populat tourist destination they should be :) hope that helps

@@nickandhelmi I am afraid that my family and i would miss the bus stop haha. Can i ask one more thing? Can you set the time/day of validation of the Hakone free pass? and How much was it from Odawara station, because when i paused it on 1:19 it was 4000 Yen but in their website its 4600 Yen? Thankyou so much. Looking forward for more of your videos :)

Laila Posadas oh right yes, we went in december- im not sure if the seasons has affected the pricing or it may have gone up. I think you wont miss the stop as the route will take you to this foresty windy road and when you get to the first town by the lake its pretty obvious 😬👍 as the view will be a big giveaway
