Best way to deal with kids I learned from my wife who is a teacher: give them a choice. In your scenario: "We can wait and you can press the button. Or we can go now and you can press the button when we come back."

good technic BUT as someone who forgets and gets flustered i would caution this because i forget to hold true to my word to my kid often when they pick the second choice and that will cause them some major trust issues lol

I related so much with the part of Wolfie getting upset over not getting to push the elevator button. My almost 5-year-old twins do the same thing, especially by son. My daughter also gets upset and does not want to move when it is too hot outside. Good for him being able to handle the fireworks show, they can be loud and scare kids sometimes.

Do you have letter carriers? - I have heard about how Japanese people sort their recyclables from trash, how does all this sorting get collected? - What does a Japanese Police Station look like? Thank you for your consistency in publishing on this channel. It’s really fun to have watched your channel grow over the years. Please keep up the good work. Thank you.

With our 3 year old now, similar triggers. Just want to be independent. But u gotta learn to be stern sometimes. That they don’t get what they want all the time. We’ve said no and just tell our son “next time” or “you can’t get what you want all the time”. My wife’s a teacher along with plenty experience at a day care. They gotta learn this behavior so that they don’t get devastated for every small thing growing up.

Amazing holiday with your amazing family, thank you for giving us the insight and a chance to peek into the holidays of a Japanese family. I can reassure you, your kid is absolutely cute and does the same things my kids did when they were small. Now my youngest is 18 and I have 4 kids who are pretty close to each other in age, so you can imagine how chaotic it was at times. They do learn a lot and they grow into fantastic adults. I've seen some patronizing comments in the thread telling you how to raise your son, I wouldn't give a damn what they say. He is absolutely fine and I like your methods, you're doing it absolutely great. Greetings from the UK.
