Wheelspin is a very common thing with fwd cars. Because theyre trying to pull the weight yet put that power down to the ground, which is what often results in a temporary loss of traction but its worth it to keep the engine in its powerband. For vtec engines, in general anything below 4500 to 5k is useless for hard driving

I've gone 150mph with 150hp. Just cause the speedo is in kmh doesn't mean the gear ratios are different lol still going the same speed in each gear as every other b18c

Turbos don't even come on until like 6k - 7k on most of these. They def make jam from 8k - 9k, but from idle to like 7k they look like they would be horrendously slow to drive.

SEBASTIAN BLIX while that may be the case the actual power band starts between 4500 and 5500 (depending on the type/series of vtec engine) as long as the vtec is engaged youre in the powerband with these little beasts.

One question I have is why does everyone in these videos push their engine way past redline just to get into the next gear? Seems unnecessary… I’m getting into driving stick (been learning for a few months now) and from my understanding this is very hard on your engine and makes your clutch do a lot more work. I’m assuming bc it’s modified it’s able to handle those pressures without blowing anything lien you would in a stock engine? Would appreciate some knowledge as far as all this goes as I do plan on doing work to my 97 Civic DX eventually. Thanks

Nobody is pushing past the redline, the redline also known as the revlimiter keeps the engine exceeding speeds that can cause damage. The reason why some people let it bounce, is because the car is spinning its wheels and is still picking speed up, if they shift up then the revs will drop way too low, being out of the power band, and accelerating very slowly.
