My experience with the DBD and Pulsar1 are very similar. DBD has a little more power but the Ronbus Pulsar1 equals it for pop.

Really well done comparison video. Excellent use of the comparison tables. I can't agree that the B&B Loco has more power than the Vatic Pro Flash. I found the former to be a fairly soft and meh paddle. I would also say that the power of the Flash is similar and even higher than the DBD. Agree that the Flash is a pretty poppy paddle, more so than the DBD.

Thank you! And yes one thing to remember is that this list of mine may not match someone else's because of the manufacturing variances that exist. Power is also going to somewhat be affected by swingweight and overall weight so having a lighter model of a particular paddle may affect the results

Thank you for not fixating on Twist Weight as many other reviewers are. It's a reasonable statistic that measures what it does, but gaming twist weight doesn't necessarily make the best feeling paddle. In particular, I disagree with the default advice to lead tape the bottom corners.

Great video! Hybrid is definitely a category that deserves to be focused on. Aside from power and pop, I’d like some insight into durability especially for the core material. I’ve gone through 2 thermoformed paddles (vatic v7) in about 4-6 months each. They both have the crinkling sound (core crushed) when pressing on the face. Durability is more difficult to quantify, but maybe a survey of how long a paddle lasts would be a good first step.

Definitely, would love to be able to quantify this and I think the general guideline is no more than 5-6 months of use before the cores break down in the paddle but agreed that this is hard to test for every single one of these. All of the companies will tell you that they have some new fix that solves the issue but in my experience they all are still breaking and there is no complete solution yet

@@TickleMyPickleball yeah, it’s disappointing that we can only expect 6 months of use with these paddles, especially when they can cost over $200. I’m more inclined to opt for cheaper paddles since they all seem to have Toray T700 raw carbon fiber with thermoforming and foam injected edges. The differences are starting to become negligible with spin (all in the 1900-2100 rpm range) and power. If someone could come up with a stronger core that won’t crush, that would be a real game changer.

Yea IMO the spin difference between these paddles is a bit negligible and these more affordable options are doing just as well durability wise so definitely a smart option to stick with these more affordable brands

Have you hit the J2k from Honolulu PB? If so, how would you rate control / stiffness of face relative to say the DBD or M1 Forza? I prefer a softer paddle face. Thanks and keep up the great work.

I have played with the Double Black Diamond 16mm for about a year. But recently started playing with Joola hyperion C2. I find the C2 is a far better paddle. But i wonder why i have not seen anyone put it in their "top paddles" or even mentioned. Kinda interested if anyone else has played with the hyperion C2

Currently working on a video for it now. It's a solid paddle but just not worth the price. Right now I think the Triple J Judah performs just as well for less than half the cost

Thanks for the comparison. I tend to focus more on control and sweet spot size so this video wasn’t for me, but I still found it interesting. For your future videos I’d recommend saying “between” when you’re comparing 2 paddles and “among” when you have more than 2. It’s just more correcter that way 😮.
