Solution to the grid distortion: Put the grid on the plexiglass.

Exactly, also makes sure the grid is already the right size when you zoom in and out on a map.

I'd recommend a projector from the ceiling projecting down on the table instead. Also works with all tables without having to modify a new table.

Brett. I used Photoshop to create the maps and then import them into the library of MapTools. The character icons I found online and also imported into MapTools.

I'm actually building one out of scrap that I have. Though, I like the distortion, myself. Has a sort of ethereal vibe. It's not detrimental to play, I think. Considering that everyone will have to stand up to move anyway.

Hey is that a map from Expidition to Castle Ravenloft???? love that campaign.... should add a layer for thick Fog as that environment is supposed to be very scary i guess

Run two copies of maptools (on the same computer if necessary) and have one for the ref only (running as a server) and the other as a client for the players. I use one computer hooked up to both a TV (players) and an LCD monitor (ref)

Seems like a lot of headache for a small pay off. Id rather just print off the maps and play the game than spend so much time playing with the electronics.

I think it's a really cool idea. Personally, as much as I like my gadgets, I would struggle with the idea that an LCD screen doesn't really fit well with a fantasy theme though.

Its a "Wii-mote", the controller from a Nintendo Wii, often "hacked" and used for other things.
