You can also select the closest enemy by pressing your Tab key. Repeatedly pressing it cycles through the closer enemies. Also, loot that you don't want to keep can be sold for coin, and some loot items can be turned in for reputation advancement.

You are correct, you can select enemies by hitting the Tab key which really does come in handy in Rohan for mounted combat.

Thanks for this. I played for a few months when it first came out, and haven't really played since. I wanted to start playing an old school mmo again, and settled on lotro. So far so good.

Here's a longer tip about Vocations The "useful" selection of first-toon crafts is quite small. If you do not intend to spend a long time hunting materials, Historian and tinker are indeed the way to go. The problem is in the critical success mechanics. at the first stage of item crafting, you can ONLY make green items. This is of course undesirable with all items, but with weapons (armsman/woodsman) and armor (tailor/metalsmith) especially bad because in addition to the stats on the tiems, you also want a good base damage value on weapons and armor value on armors. You can generally find purple drops/questrewards/auction house sales easier than crafting them yourself as-you-level. There is another effect in that crafting the lowest level items of a tier generally gives the best craft XP return for materials invested. So you still might feel yourself pressed to craft the lvl42 armor to level your smith, while your toon is already lvl 49 - all of which you can pretty much throw away as the AH is often flooded with lvl 42 items of every other levelling crafter out there that does exactly that. Besides, woodworkers and both smiths need items crafted by other professions to make the very best items. The third big hit is the issue of consumables. Of the weapon and armor crafting professions only few can craft useful consumables for their "focus group". Woodworkers craft Captain and Runekeeper consumables, but make nothing else that both classes would want (except giving a club/hammer to a Captain). Tailors and armorsmith have no consumables at all. Armsmen craft Burglar marbles/knives, Hunter traps and Guardian shield spikes - They also craft throwing weapons useable by most/all classes; but people rarely use those. The problem here is, with only 1 or two useable weapon slots, weapons are actually the least needed item. Which leaves Historian, Tinker, Yeoman. Historians can craft a massive amount of consumables useful at all levels and in all situations. Consider lvl 24 Warding lore: it gives +346 mitigation. It will give the same +346 mitigations to a level 24 character as well as a lvl 75 character. While the effect on the lvl 75 character is obviously less, there *is* a positive effect. Putting a lvl 24 sword on even a lvl 30 character has no positive effect at all. Also, there is a special Champion potion that historians make which is useable at all levels as well. Tinkers are generally recommended for their ability to craft hope tokens. Again, even a +1 hope token that your low level tinker can make will still give that +1 hope at high level. So, while the effect diminishes, you still can have a positive effect from each and every token you make. The jewels will of course be restricted by the same critical success inhibitor as the other equipment; but since they carry neither armor value nor inherent DPS, having green or underlevel jewels is not as bad as having insufficient armor or weapons. As tinker has Prospector attached, you will not have to depend on any other profession in crafting at any time. Yeoman is a very worthy profession as well. The value of food is often underrated; it makes everything go more smoothly. It is also a profession that can completely supply itself; AND you can craft from zero to the highest tier without needing anything else than money (but loads of that). In short: If you want to focus on one toon and dont want to invest much time on gathering materials, go historian. If you are willing to hold a crafting alt, make your main a tinker and the alt an historian. Scholar mats drop abundantly from killing humanoid creatures - eve moreso after the recent drop rate increase. The tinker can actually supply metals to the historian to level his armsman craft along, so you will actually have a weaponsmith. If you do wish so, you can also farm on the historian and let the scholar cook as well. So, between two toons, you can have 4 of the six crafting professions Due to limits in inventory it is however probably the better way to do at least the farming on a third alt, a yeoman. A farmer puts out more than enough raw materials during farming-levelling to supply two cooks (your tinker mian and the yeoman itself). People also recommend going explorer since they can harvest both ores and wood. I went that direction, but I knew early on that I want to have many crafting alts; so I invested quite a bit into the storage room and kept each and every bit of resources. In hindsight I would have had a better playing time on my main following the advice I gave above. Well, my payoff is having guild westfold crafters of all professions

Even if you don't want to play on an rp server, everyone should experience an event on one at some point - they're so much fun! I'm not a big roleplayer but love the atmosphere on these servers especially at concerts like Weatherstock, or events such as Taking the Hobbits to Isengard. I once did a series of guided walks which were really fun ;)

Server choice only matters for time zones. All servers are physically in US so for latency it doesn't matter which one you pick.

I'd like to ask, what do you get levelling up your crafting skills from proficiency to mastery? I mean, you get critical chance from proficiency already, right? Do you get still better recipes or something from mastery?
@polycarpmedia7383 Жыл бұрын
From my understanding, I don't do a lot of crafting, you are able to craft better gear at a much higher power/strength and so on.

It really depends on how often you play and for how long in each session. I've been playing for 3+ years and I'm only at 93. 130 I believe is the current level cap. However, they continue to add content as well as levels to obtain for your characters.
