Great video full of Special Edition Miata info! Happy to find Miata content on YT channels like yours! Being in the right place at the right time got my hands on non-running black '92 Miata with BBS wheels & hardtop for $1800 in process of making it a fun car...and a running/driving green '03 Miata for only $350...yes only 3 digits haha but it does need work. Perhaps putting the VVT drivetrain and Sport brakes into my '92 would make it More Fun!

I test drove a Shinsen recently. Fun car. I think the asking price of $12500 was insane. The seats I think must have had seat covers on them because they looked like a black leather and they showed no sign of wear. The tires were ones that were discontinued in 2017. The paint was near flawless and there was no rust-has 96000 miles on it. There wasn’t a lot of low end power to the point where it felt it needed a good tune up but the high end power was there. I come back to this video often. You did a great job on it. I feel like it would be cool to do a continuation of NC and ND rare or special color Miatas.

I just bought a 2002 NB. Not so much launched as a “special edition” but a rare color: Laser Blue. Only 151 were made as they were only available as an online purchase. As far as I know it’s not a special interior or anything, just a rare color for an MX-5 (there are plenty of other Mazda’s in this color). Also found a British Racing Green NA in my price range just before I went to look at the blue one I bought but didn’t go to check it out as I liked the blue color more.

Hey Alex, there’s a 2004 SE turbo in NZ with 37000km one owner from new. NZ $27000. 9 came into NZ in ‘04, 6 in ‘05. He’s come down a bit since listing, but it looks a collectable. Keep up t good work, love your content.

Nice video! being a 93le owner I gotta add that on the 93le the wing, lips, hardtop, mudflaps as well as the tonneau cover and soft top boot were dealer options, also it had the viscous lsd and the mss1 (mazda sensory sound system) which had not only the door tweeters and headrest speakers but also the bodysonic thumpers which provided more bass. The 14” bbs’s weigh 8.5lbs each as well. 👍

The 10 year addition had 7500 made, only 3000 got shipped to the USA. They have a oval red plate on the left front fender with its number on it, mine is No 6713. I know of 2 that were totaled and 1 that was heavily modified leaving only 2996 that may be close to stock. I have made some small mods to mine, but nothing that can't be put back except for one and that is the changing of the front sway bar brackets. the brackets were made from sheet metal and broke from metal fatigue, I replaced them with some racing ones which were far better than stock one from that era of Miata. Nice video I really enjoyed it.

I fell in love with that car for a few reasons, not the least of which were the wooden steering wheel, shift knob and brake handle. Some people dream of lamborghinis, this is a dream car for me. I have a strato blue mica 03' and it's a beautiful color in the sun. If you get the angle just right it almost looks purple! I love the car and in my opinion it's the prettiest color you can get.

So for the 99 the production is 7500 not 3000. I have one and they are numbered. There's a badge on the left fender indicating your number out of 7500.

We have owned several SE Miatas: 91 and 2001 BRGSE, 96 M! 94 Laguna but B pkg so black interior; 97 M...the wheels were pealing so I think might have been chrome vs polished. Now have 08 PRHT and 96 Red with C Pkg. Thanks for your presentation and interest.

I have a 2001 1.6 NB with a 6 speed and torsen lsd. Don't know what edition or version the 6 speed or lsd came out of. Also has black and red leather seats. Would love to know where these bits came from as afaik the 1.6 was only 5 speed and didnt come with a torsen nor black and red leather seats Edit: I found the black and red seats came from a 2004 UK special edition called the MX5 Euphonic. They came in a 1.6 and 1.8 5 speed with a fuji lsd. Edit 2: The 6 speed box came from a MK2.5 SVT which has a 3.6 fuji lsd. Mine has a 4.1 Torsen. According to BofiRacing ''the holy grail for the naturally aspirated MX5 is really a 5 Speed + 4.3 or a 6 Speed + 4.1.'' I suppose i got lucky buying this car as clearly the previous owner done a good bit to make it a good drivers car

I have a bit of a mystery on my hands. I have a 1999 NB MX-5 1.8 SE. It has the light tan interior and soft top, all the wooden nardi stuff, power windows etc. But it is not mahogany. It's British Racing Green. I have the original purchase documents, it's had one owner from new, and has always been green. So do I have a rare special edition? I can't find very much online about the 1999 SE other than one website that claims 500 were made.

I have a 93 S-Limited. Only 1000 made for the Japanese market. Similar to the Limited edition you mentioned with the red interior but had gold BBS alloys.

I've had an S-limited for about 3 years. Had a few jdm bits added before it was imported to the UK so not completely original. Unfortunately it no longer has the BBS wheels which were swapped out for light weight enkei racing S wheels. There's a Facebook group for these cars, search for Mazda Eunos roadster S-ltd.

Can't leave out Miata's new half brother the '17-'20 Fiat 124 Spider. Same Japanese/Mopar mother, different Italian father, born and raised in the same Hiroshima house under the same Jinba Ittai principals. Only sold in the US for 3 years. Hardly advertised to keep the market competition at a bare minimum. 6 speed models are destined to be a future colab classic of a rare and interesting branch of the Miata family tree considering 124s were America's highest selling 2 door roadsters starting in the 60s until Miatas took up the mantle in the early 90s

hmm i have a 92 canadian sunburst, leather seats same as the brg but in black, stainless sills , powerstering, powerwindows and a limited slip differential all original from new. i think that people somewhat shied away from the color back in the days making them a somewhat hard sell - so they filled them up with extras to make them more atractive

I believe you're referring to the 2002 Vivid Yellow Miata, which while exceptionally rare technically wasn't a special edition. It was an online order exclusive, where Mazda was experimenting with ordering cars online. It has the same paint code as sunburst yellow but it was called vivid yellow for whatever reason, and they were all special ordered through the internet! My local shop had one a few months ago, vivid yellow with a tan interior; not quite my thing but certainly eye catching

What about the special NA's that was made to celebrate the 1991 Le Mans win? The cars was painted similarly to the winning Le Mans car and came turbocharged as the first Miata ever. I think just 15 was made and supposedly a few was resprayed even before being sold, as there was not bold enough to buy one.

I had a ‘91 BRG & loved it to death(almost!). It was my daily fix for over 15 years until an immutable wall won the battle. 😅 I was rolling on the infamous twisty Pasadena freeway going 85 mph & the rear tire blew-out...💥 into a wall, the car bounced back into the middle of the freeway. I thought, “what a f*ing miracle!” Then I turned to look at the on-coming traffic 😱, the entire traffic at a complete standstill watching me like a drive-in movie. I thought again, “what a f*ing miracle!” I was not hurt, but the front end was like an accordion. It was a sad day, week...years. 2017 the urge to have a fix was too great & bought a ND Club in soul red. The BRG was much more sure, confident, forgiving than the current drive. Then again, I’m older & less itchy...sometimes😁. Miata is a fun car to drive fast, easy to own & I’ll always have one. Thank you for your research & presentation on an iconic, endearing car: Miata.
