As the owner of a 1990 registered MX5, i found your programme enthralling. My car has 70,000 miles on the clock, has a mega rare, professionally fitted towbar, detachable hardtop, chrome roll over bar and a stainless steel boot rack. It was undersealed from new in Japan and the panels are lazer straight and totally rust free. A respray is needed and i'm saving up a little every week from my pension, i'm 75, but when i go out in this superb little driver, i'm 35 all over again. I live in Deal, Kent, which is a coastal town and summer cruising is wonderful, just me and my dog, superb...
@AveragetoPoor4 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video enjoyable. Your car sounds like a lovely example and I hope when you get the respray it further enhances your enjoyment of your car. Mine is also in need of a respray and I'm looking forward to having all of my panels featuring the same versions of Neo Green, as over the years it seems to have changed slightly from panel to panel. Deal must be a lovely place to enjoy the MX-5, and what better co-driver could one possibly ask for?

I never saw this come up in my feed before. But I watched it from beginning to end. Thanks for confirming what I've always know about my 1990 NA. It's a special car. You see mine is painted in the design studio in California test colors of late 1989. Namely the Seafoam green. A little more special it has a Jackson racing MK1 SC under the bonnet (hood). I simply love this little roadster. And I have a few to compare it to. This car truly has brought back the roadster and FUN cars to the marketplace. Now 30+ years it's more significant then some others you might see at car shows even if it gets little respect from some in attendance. Yes the answer always is M I A T A

After 18 years of ownership of various miatas, I didn't know all the details you provided for in this awesome video! In Germany the car was so sought after, dealerships imported Miatas (even in 89) individually, with a huge mark-up. Even today, a lot of MX5 NAs are Miatas.
@AveragetoPoor5 жыл бұрын
That's interesting to know! It's amazing that buyers were so willing to pay such inflated prices for the car given that one of its primary draws was supposed to be its affordability.
@Happymali105 жыл бұрын
@@AveragetoPoor Well in part it was the press' fault. An early article on the car in Germany's biggest car-magazine, for example, said Mazda will only bring 500 to Europe, since it's meant to be for the US only. That, together with tons of praise it generally got, created A LOT of buzz. And then we were supposed to wait a year, and got (more than 500 but) only very few cars each month/year.

The engineering effort and attention to the drive train and rear double wishbone suspension has peaked my interest. In particular the softer bushing and the affect it has on handling. Your video has been the only one I know of to point this out. The Miata is so modifiable and like the Chevy, Ford and less so Mopar of the sixties and early seventies,the after market parts are plentiful. I say less so on the Mopar because some parts for those cars now are really hard to find. No so the case with Ford and Chevy, at least with my efforts. This is one of the things we enjoyed because of the ease to personalize your “Ride.” Miata aftermarket parts are wild, fun and more importantly available. And the early models are simple and and amateur such as myself can repair them. The Internet is ripe with people documenting what they have done to their Miata with great detail. Personally such videos has taken the fear out of tinkering with my car and has fed my addiction. You have added to that addiction because I have such pride that I own one of the first Miatas born January 1990. That perhaps is a silly thing but nevertheless I have more of an appreciation of this car than I would if I had chosen a car with less of a history. In my cars case, I know the complete history as she is a local car and I know all of the previous owners personally. Everyone must own a red convertible at least once in their lives and I have mine. Back to the rear suspension, I fear big mistakes can be made especially in alignment by a shop which does not know that the suspension is indeed different from others. This is the whole point of the ramble. Thank you for providing such good Miata “crack.” Miata Crack would be a great name for a website come to think of it. Ummmm, Thanks again.

Well done video. I've had my NA for 2 years and have enjoyed the every one of the 22k miles I've spent in my summer toy. Bone stock down to the radio.

Amazing and inspiring production. Thank you! I just purchased my first Miata months ago and I am loving the ownership experience. It's a 1999 NB.1, a generation that maintains the NAs spirit.

Thanks (and thanks for your kind comments on my other videos too, I really appreciate them)! I'm glad you're getting on so well with your NB, they certainly do maintain the NA's spirit whilst in many ways improving much of the experience too! I imagine it looks fantastic parked next to your S2000!

What a great video for any car enthusiasts. You did an amazing job, and the video should have had millions of views by now. I hope this video resurfaces in the algorithm and gives it a much needed praise. With that said, I am now on the hunt for my very own Miata NA I can't hardly wait to find my very own slice of car enthusiasts bliss.
