The air pressure of laptop ventillation is quite low so i'm not really convinced i'd trust the foam in this parricular use. But if you use core and device temperature monitoring software and ensure that it looks alright then that's fine as well.

@SianaGearz That’s sensible. I have found that it works for me without any problems, but laptop designs vary, so it's best to check temperatures. Alternatively, one could use four small squares of foam in the corners where there are no air vents. The foam would isolate the case from the desk, and the air flow would not be hindered.

I think if the foam can have water moved through it, airflow shouldn't be hindered enough to matter to the computer. But I'm not a fluid dynamicsologist XD If you want a little piece of mind, cutting holes in the foam base where the vents are should keep it stable enough while providing the isolation desired
