Edit. Aiight. Loving this build. Solid. My repair skill is maxed and i didnt have any problems. I have zero cannons though because i have access to no named metals except crystal on this island. So ima finish this ship and sail somewhere to hopefully get some alloy mats. Anyone know some good spots for ANY metals? Lead, iron, iridium i dont care. If u need crystal make some climbing picks and climb pretty much any large rock/mountian. Even the starting islands.

The thing about ship fights is the guy chasing is way more vulnerable than the guy in the front.The back guy is shooting against gravity while the guy in front can shoot further away and still make the hit.Also big ships are NOT avoiding your fire.The problem with the game design is the offline and UNFAIR fights,in those cases NOTHING matters.

this reminds me of the asian tortoise ships I think they where called, basically super heavy armor all over, and they used vertical sweeps in banks and waved them in the water to propel the smaller ships. or move the larger ones around in narrow channels and such. lots of muscle power involved. from the days of ramming ships and archerry in battle.

I like Firespark's effort to bring information to the community..good job dude. However me including,there was not enough information known in the early days.People talk about SPEED of ships and whatever else.The Schooner is FAST,sure maybe the Galley can be fastest in a STRAIGHT line but the Schooner can turn circles around it.My point here you really do not need armor if you pay attention on the seas.it might take awhile but you could defeat ANY SOTD literally with ONE cannon if you wanted to.Sure we all get sloppy sometimes but you are not going to die to a few cannons hitting you.IMO it is so easy to just set 7-9 cannons on the back of a Schooner and you are OP,no fear sailing.I defeat RED SOTD level 57 and i was tired and lazy and got hit by a few cannons but imo it is easy,VERY easy to beat SOTD.So i see no reason to take away weight by flooding a ship with armor.....Large cannons allow you to fight at distance,this means even if you were attacked by a large ship unloading 20 cannons,you will have time to turn and have the cannons miss you.The big ships Gally/Brig are incredibly SLOW at turning,so slow you can make a sharp turn and laugh at the galley.If you have any fear at all,perhaps cover your self or the npc's from real player sniper shots but for SOTD,don't worry about the armor.

Because the panels cause collision issues. Always build them last.

The rear is poorly designed to stop overhead damage, also needs a decent sized roof for the center. For pve use. AI cannons fire center mass

They should never hit you that much. If you are taking a lot of damage from sotd then you need to practice kiting them more. Also, I know they aim for center mass but they should never actually hit your center mass. Keep your distance and keep moving, do minor repairs between kiting. Last, its a shell build designed with low weight in mind, as I state in the video, so that people can customize it.

Totally spoiled by Atlas Shipwright. My AS War Brigantine has 55,000 weight, 45 crew and allows 2 large speed and 2 large handling sails. Grapeshot are smoking wall to wall carpet with a 15,000 weight limit on a brig.

You can place normal cannons anywhere I have a sloop that uses 5 to 7 cannons unfortunately on console you can't place large cannons on a deck
