We flew from Bangkok and then a private car from the airport.

@@lisabouchard584 Once in Thailand, or anywhere in Asia, flights are very affordable, so bouncing around is easy. We ususlly fly Air Asia, have the app on the phone... many times about $49 each way... We are heading to Malaysia in January, should be fun.
