Great idea. I imagine the key to successfully removing them is to never remove them. They belong to the tree now

I think so too!

You need to 3d print this and market it!! Absolutely genius

That would be cool! Though I need to design a better way to take it down. Did not come down good from this tree. Now if you have a tree with a tall trunk, then no worries.

I think this is the key to putting them up, then, you use the light hanging tools to get them down. It takes way longer to put them up then take down. I am going to give this a shot next year because the light hanging attachment was a pain on a 20+ foot pole, in the wind, and the cold. Lol

That might work well, I did not have a good experience taking them down. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6GVeYeXlLJgorM

Thanks for this video. This needs to be an actual commercially-available product. It worked super slick! I thought I could be cute and pry the hand-held part off so I could bolt the threaded paint roller handle through it, but that part just snapped on its seam, so I had to epoxy it back together, but the two U-shaped brackets on either portion of it seems to hold it together well enough. Also< I have an 18-foot extension pole and I started at the top, so the thing was pretty wobbly at the tope when I started. And it also was hard to estimate how much I had left; left the bottom row of branches unlit. Next year I think I'll go Up and then back down like you did.
@AroundTheHome12 күн бұрын
It did work great, but getting them down off of that Bradford Pear was very hard. Too many little branches that it caught on. I need some kind of power wind setup on this so I can have my reel up on the pole and still wind it up.

Hahah brilliant. I'm so going to try this. Thx.

Taking it down wasn't so good with this tree. If you have a tree with a tall trunk it will work well. The lights got caught in the tiny branches with this one. I need to come up with a removal tool for trees like this.

That looks like a good idea but how are you going to get them out of the tree?
@AroundTheHome13 жыл бұрын
You know, someone I know asked me that. But since the lights are just around the outside of the tree, I'm pretty sure that I can just walk around it again to take it off. I'm sure that I will stand a little further away from the tree to do so, but I guess I will have to make a video on that when the time comes.

@@AroundTheHome1 Looking forward to it. I am a gal with " DIY - challenged." However, having a good instructor like you helps me from getting freaked out when something doesn't go right-and it never does at my old house!

@@AroundTheHome1 I think you will need to stop the reel from spinning and walk around and respool the lights.
@AroundTheHome1 Жыл бұрын
@nel6211 I thought of that. Then I though of how many times it would take spinning it around to wrap up 500 ft of line. That would have worked, but I want to build something better then trying to hand turn the handle.
@nel6211 Жыл бұрын
@@AroundTheHome1 Then keep it simple. Just attach some type of hook to your pole and carefully lift and remove the lights. Round and round you go..
