@greenrayascension25277 жыл бұрын
I haven't either. I have a set that I have been working with for the past 11 months. There has been no breakage, even with the reds which was a problem for these pencils for years. I can tell that their formula has changed and that the feel of application is different. Slightly less creamy, but still applies smoothly. I use several sharpeners, either the small maual sharpeners or my Bostitch electric when I'm at home. I get a very fine point with no breakage. So that being said, people should try for themeslves and not rely on negative reviews, many of which were made during a time when the company did a plant transfer and the quality suffered greatly. Or in reviews in which the colorist is either unfamiliar with how to use the pencils or the pencils just don't fit that persons artistic style of application. Everyone should judge for theslves.

Hi Jennifer! What a fantastic video. I appreciate your thoroughness and fair review. Thanks for encouraging me. There is so much negativity towards Prismacolor that it has made me 2nd guess my purchase from over a decade ago. I have learned more in the last week since I discovered your channel that I have in over a decade. I can not wait for you to upload a video on your suggestions for color combinations. I now know that the 3 color blend is what I have NOT been doing (and multiple layers) I just know that THAT information will help me tremendously. Also can you please share what kind of paper you use when you color w/ these pencils. I have been using a medium weight cardstock and it is too smooth and will only allow 1 or 2 layers and then is all shiny and glossy. I printed out and completed your color swatch printouts and as I was trying to obtain a gradient I just got a shinny smooth finish. I would love a recommendation on what I can use to print out your gorgeous images. BTW, thanks for this fantastic free download! Blessings

wow , been thinking of getting me some prisma colors as I love vivid color , and blending , I live in New Zealand and the 150 set is a whopping $500, no way I can afford to spend that amount on pencils as I am only a hobby colorer and have only started in the last few months, so slowly getting my equipment together, I'm trying to decide whether to buy the 24s for $80 or the 36s for $120, as we are still in Level 4 lockdown due to covid-19 I cant buy them just yet as they dont fall into the 'essential items' where as your basic coloring pencils do. either way I am looking forward to getting my first prisma colors and just want to thank you for this video and the many others you make I have learnt so much and because of your tips and tricks have made me decide to keep with it , hence the reason I wish to move up and try out the prismas , thanks , so breakfast out of the way, dishes done, and sitting down with a hot coffee about to do some coloring in my Millie Marotta's Beautiful Birds and Tree Top Treasures and watch a couple of your latest videos

What is the best colored pencil brand out there? Something similar to Prismacolor. I have the 48 set but I'm thinking of saving money to buy a full set of colored pencils bcuz they are quite expensive; but I heard the new Prismacolors are not as good as the old ones. Is there any other option to invest in? Something not too expensive but as creamy and blendable as Prismacolor. I also heard Caran d'ache Luminance is so good but more expensive than Prismacolor 😣😣
@addison2645 жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert at this but Crayola can be pretty decent for colored pencils. I would say invest in having Crayola as your primary brand and slowly build up a collection of prismas or polychromos, another really good brand. Prismacolor premier pencils are only 2.50 each I believe. So, i would just recommend moderately buying nice quality pencils.

I managed to get a used 150 set of these with a carrying case and a coloring book for around $65 a while back. Only four of the pencils had obvious signs of use/sharpening, Espresso, Chocolate, Pumpkin Orange, and Mineral Orange. Espresso and Chocolate both seemed to have some issues with the inner lead breaking, as does Mineral Orange to a lesser extent, and all four of them lean into the brownish range, which makes me think that the brown shades (at least in my set) might be much softer (they definitely glide on smoother). Still, when I factored out the cost of the coloring book and the case (based on the closest match I could find online), I got the set for around $40, and only 4 had some minor issues? That's around 25¢ per pencil. I can't get mad at that. As a side night, the pencils with breakage issues seemed to get somewhat better when I left them sitting on the grate for my heat vent with the heat on high. I was also insane enough to make a Swatch guide for the while set. Twice. One is in the first few pages of the my sketchbook, the other is a small notebook I actually keep inside the case. Okay, I've gushed about my pencils at 3 a.m. enough for one night, time for sleep.

I’m very excited to purchase these. They have them at Michaels so I can get them for 50 percent off!!! Here in Canada they are still like 80$ for 63 pencils though.

Great video, I just bought the 72 set and love them. I learned a lot from this video but the music is way to much for hearing impaired.

Awesome review!!! 😍😍😍 do you have a Link to the case? I have yet to use my 150 set because they're so hard to get to in those flimsy trays
@ColoringBliss7 жыл бұрын
+Puchy Tats, I agree about the trays! The cases I love are made by a Global Art and I have a link in the video description or in the blog post.

I saw some prismas at target for 14.99 but I didn’t buy them because I had ordered some other pencils and I didn’t feel the need to buy more, but I might go back to get them.
