Hey man all I want to say is, I’ve been watching you from the start when I wasn’t even thinking about a studio and didn’t even know what I was doing ,,but two years later, just from watching your videos and learning what to do ,,I’m in my own dream studio and can say thank you 🙏🙏🙏for what you do and keep on going. These videos help me and bunch of other people who want to start doing what you do. To this day I’m still learning and still watching your videos because the music industry and sounds will keep on changing. Thank you Andrew🎉🎉

Oh, I meant to say. Sometime, if you ever get a chance, a video on headphone distribution / monitoring systems would be much appreciated. It's not something I know anything about, but it's important when tracking full bands. And I notice a lot of studios seem to have similar kit (Behringer units maybe?).

Still room for improvement, use Flock electronic patch-bay. That would add a lot of flexibility. And use of HW like Wesaudio for HW recall and control the HW both via plugin or directly on the HW.

Andrew , you should get the flock audio patch I used to do it the way you are and there is annoying latency you have to compensate for - well at least I experienced that I would set up latency per channel, but it would drift all the time I have never looked back from the flock
@itsstudiotime
@itsstudiotime Ай бұрын
Interesting, I don't have any latency issues with this set up but cool to hear that helped!

@lmrecorders

I'm curious what the actual sample latency is. There are no free lunches with ad/da conversion and there is actual latency each time it happens. Whether it's meaningful to the performer is marginal but I'm curious if you know. Each loop through the ad/da is adding the native latency of the each conversion which varies from brand to brand. Mostly it doesn't matter for single paths but anything in parallel can get pretty weird. I don't have any problem with the latency of the behringer p16 system but it definitely has audible latency compared to an all analog monitoring path when it comes to vocals.

Hey first of all very good video!! I´m wondering how you deal with recalling all the outboard gear? And what is your strategy for making multitracks or stems for external Atmos Mixing. Is there a function to commit the inserts so that you have a printed version in Pro Tools? All the best from Germany

Simplified version: The studio is not the exclusive revenue generator of my business but it is the heart of it. I own my own business and revenue comes from sessions (remote and in-person), digital products (drum sample pack, courses), consultations, as well as these youtube channels.

Love the new set up man! I noticed you're not using as many of the Warm 1073 and Pultec clones as you were in the last set up, is that just a space thing, or did you sell them for some of the other gear? Would especially love to hear your thoughts about the pres you decided to keep for what instrument and why sometime!
@itsstudiotime
@itsstudiotime Ай бұрын
I talk about the EQ thing at 16:45. I've gone through quite a variety of preamps over the years. I got rid of some of the warms after I got the console because I had 40+ preamps which was a bit overkill. I did some fun preamp shoot outs that I made videos on a while back that kind of informed what i'm using now.

Hey I love the video but I just don't understand how you do the whole "everything is ready to play" thing because I just can't imagine having plugged like 50 inputs at the same time and not get any noise. Do all the inputs have some kind of gate on them or how does it work because I can't imagine you don't get a ton of noise especially with the guitars and stuff. But great video tho keep it up
@manuellujan5625
@manuellujan5625 Ай бұрын
What he means by ready to go is everything is plugged in and ready to arm a track if needed. Not necessarily is inputted into a DAW already put its already plugged in into a input all you would have to do is open a track and put the correct input number and press record. You don't have to physically go grab a mic, then go grab a cable, then go plug into a channel and etc etc to get to the final record button. I know it doesn't sounds like that much work BUT it is lol having to re route channels and mics in a session even if its just 4 mics can sometimes last 20-30 minutes of time. That's allt of time in a recording session. So having everything ready to go is a big plus.
@lolybube
@lolybube Ай бұрын
@@manuellujan5625 yeah thanks man I feel you but in the video he just picked up a guitar and could play it through the speakers, same with the synth. Did he just set it up beforehand?
@itsstudiotime
@itsstudiotime Ай бұрын
No gates or anything. There's no noise, I don't keep my speakers at 100, so maybe that helps? I utilize the antelope audio control panel to have a control room mix for direct monitoring that's always set.

Is the automatic delay compensation available over the TB host mode or is that just due to the digilink IO?
@peterellman9672
@peterellman9672 27 күн бұрын
So once you get the mix the way you want with outboard stuff you bus it all onto a master track that you then have to record in real time to get the final product which you then bounce ?

How did you deal with delay comp through outboard gear? I keep getting mixed info (from what I can find) that only the pro tools ultimate WITH Avid hardware (HDX) does automatic outboard delay comp. is this true? I have the apogee Studio Synergy core with PT studio but i'm getting outboard gear pretty soon and I'm wondering what you did to time align everything.
