part of his quality assurance process is checking a file for errors before submitting it to record labels or DSPs. There should be no sonic difference otherwise. I am assuming in the past he's had a file that played back fine on a mac but then was corrupted on a PC or vice versa. Though i'm assuming this would be very rare the implications of of any little mistake can be high in this business.
